Summary

In this spiritually enlightening book, the author takes readers on a journey through the evolution of divine laws, from ancient scriptures to modern beliefs. It sheds light on how sacred teachings highlight our need for grace, rather than our claim to righteousness. The text delves into the cosmos's order and the Creator's intent, leading to the New Covenant's dawn with the Messiah. This narrative invites truth-seekers and wisdom-lovers to embrace spiritual growth, blending justice with mercy and law with faith, urging us to find the divine symphony within and live out a love-infused existence.I grew up as a fragile young man shaped by social, financial, and economic hardship, which led me into deep struggles with depression, anxiety, and hopelessness. In the midst of that brokenness, Love itself met me and began my search for truth. Along the way, I walked through dark and deceptive paths that forced me to confront my faith, question what I believed, and ultimately anchor my hope in Christ rather than religious performance. Today, I am simply a servant of God, writing to communicate a message of hopeful liberation. My desire is that this book would edify you, strengthen your faith, and leave you forever changed.

What happens to your faith when you don’t get your miracle? That is the question raised in this fictional account of one woman’s true ongoing journey with healing faith. The woman is real, her story is real. Captured here is a fictional snapshot of how faith can remain strong in spite of appearances. Wendy is a woman who considers herself to be on the faith journey right along with the rest of us. Hers is a faith that has been tested through pain, disappointment, times of loss, and frustration. Her life, however, is not summed up with those words. Her words are more like love, hope, faith and peace. As a work of creative non-fiction, In Her Own Special Voice, provides words to an otherwise silent woman. Through a fictional encounter with a reporter investigating faith healing, along with personal poetry, healing and enduring faith is explored from the perspective of a life of faith lived in a wheelchair. Allow the peace that passes understanding envelope you as Wendy’s story is unfolded briefly in these pages. Allow the hope of salvation and the God of all comfort to wrap around you through words that resound in truth and grace.

  • On Benefits - cover

    On Benefits

    Lucius Annaeus Seneca

The original Latin name of this important essay by Seneca, written around 60 CE, was De Beneficiis, which is why it is generally translated as ‘On Benefits’. However, it is more usefully titled ‘On Favours’, because this is what it is essentially about: the giving and receiving of favours, with all the implications of such transactions. Seneca is concerned with demonstrating that while such exchanges can be straightforward and beneficial to both parties, often there are pitfalls and hidden complications that, sooner or later, result in problems. Though some centuries later Shakespeare summed it up concisely with Polonius’s warning: ‘Neither a borrower nor a lender be,’ Seneca is well aware that in all levels and activities of society, benefits or favours play an undoubtedly crucial role. This was certainly true of Roman society, but little has changed since. Seneca deals with the subject in detail, considering the purposes of role of the giver, of which ‘kindness’, he says, is an important aspect – but not the only one by any means. Similarly, the role and attitude of the receiver, plays its part – and ‘gratitude’ is again only one response. Seneca’s background as a Stoic underpins his approach, so he warns against the inappropriate giving and receiving of benefits, which extend far beyond just material goods: it includes influence, wives, patronage and all manner of vice and immorality. In short, Seneca points out that the giving and receiving of favours can be, and often is a pernicious and dangerous affair, resulting in later disaster. Something to be exercised with caution.
