The concept of smart cities has emerged as a transformative force in urban development, redefining the way people live, work, and move within urban spaces. At its core, a smart city integrates advanced technologies, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and big data, to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of urban infrastructure. By leveraging these technologies, cities can address the growing challenges of population density, resource management, and environmental sustainability.
One of the key components of smart cities is their ability to connect and optimize various urban systems. Transportation networks, for instance, are becoming more interconnected and intelligent. Sensors embedded in roads, traffic signals, and public transit vehicles gather real-time data that helps manage congestion, optimize routes, and improve safety. In cities like Singapore, smart traffic management systems have already reduced travel times and minimized emissions, showcasing the potential of technology-driven solutions.
Smart cities also prioritize sustainability by incorporating green initiatives and resource-efficient systems. Renewable energy sources, such as solar panels and wind turbines, are increasingly integrated into urban grids, reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Water management systems, equipped with IoT sensors, monitor usage and detect leaks to prevent waste. These efforts are particularly important as cities strive to achieve climate targets and reduce their ecological footprints.

Physical therapy is a healthcare profession dedicated to improving movement, restoring function, and alleviating pain in individuals affected by injury, illness, or disability. It plays a crucial role in rehabilitation, preventing further complications, and enhancing overall quality of life. By employing evidence-based techniques, physical therapists help patients regain mobility, reduce discomfort, and achieve optimal physical health.
The origins of physical therapy can be traced back to ancient civilizations, where massage and exercise were used for healing. However, modern physical therapy emerged during the early 20th century, particularly in response to the need for rehabilitating soldiers injured in World War I. Since then, the field has evolved significantly, incorporating advanced scientific principles, innovative treatment modalities, and a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
A physical therapist is a highly trained healthcare professional specializing in diagnosing and treating movement disorders. Their role extends beyond rehabilitation, encompassing injury prevention, pain management, and patient education. Physical therapists work in diverse settings, including hospitals, private clinics, sports facilities, rehabilitation centers, and home healthcare services. They collaborate with physicians, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.

Producing the Acceptable Sex Worker considers how sex work is produced in news media narratives, a site where much of the general public draws its understanding of the industry in the absence of lived interaction with it. Taking New Zealand as a case study, this book considers an emerging discourse of acceptability for some sex workers, primarily those who do low-volume indoor work. Their acceptability is established in comparison with other kinds of sex workers, resulting in a redistribution but not a reduction of stigma. The conditions attached to acceptability reflect persistent anxieties about sex work: workers who are acceptable must give the impression that the sexual labour of the job is enjoyable and virtually indistinguishable from their personal life, eliding the work involved. Unacceptable workers have existing marginalisations magnified by their association with the industry, with migrant sex workers produced as devious or exploited, and transgender women’s involvement with the industry used to deny them the right to public space. The conditions attached to acceptability reveal how neoliberal discourses of choice, desire, authenticity, and personal responsibility inform the formation of sex work in the public eye.

Few writers have bettered his description of the experiences of front line infantrymen under the stress of battle.' - Max HastingsLion Rampant is Robert Woollcombe's graphic account of his experiences as a front-line infantry officer with the King's Own Scottish Borderers during the desperate battle for Normandy and the Allied advance into Germany.
