Summary

When her zany neighbour Doris Cleaver invites Ruth Finlay on a hiking tour with a mixed group of trauma survivors, neither anticipates that they'll have to solve a murder.

When one of the party, a nurse from Melbourne, is found dead in her room before they’ve even started the hike in Apollo Bay, they know there is a killer in their midst. Then, on that same day, one of the tour group disappears.

As Ruth battles a bout of influenza that leaves her weak and scarcely able to think, Doris gets up to her usual cantankerous antics. But are they being followed and why does the group seem to have a death wish, putting themselves in mortal danger on a daily basis?

An unputdownable mystery set in a wilderness of steep cliffs and tidal beaches, MURDER ON THE GREAT OCEAN WALK is the fourth book in Isobel Blackthorn's Ruth Finlay Mysteries series.
Available since: 07/17/2025.
Print length: 216 pages.

🌀 Hand-spinning instructor and fiber artist Twist Turner is teaching an advanced spinning workshop when the workshop's star student—a notorious fiber hoarder with a competitive streak—is found dead in her studio, tangled in a massive pile of art yarn with suspicious plying patterns. The police suspect a tragic accident, but Twist notices the yarn has been deliberately over-spun and the victim's spinning journal contains coded notes about fiber fraud. With her workshop canceled and the spinning community in a twist, Twist must draft her way to the truth. Assisted by her spinning circle and the handsome textile engineer analyzing twist angles, Twist uncovers a scheme involving fiber substitution, counterfeit exotic blends, and a sophisticated operation diluting luxury fibers with ordinary wool. From suspicious twist consistency that reveals multiple spinners to fiber preparations that don't match the stated materials, every plied strand tells a story. But when Twist discovers the victim was systematically sabotaging other spinners' work to win competitions, she realizes the killer is protecting creative integrity more valuable than any hand-spun skein. With the regional fiber competition approaching and the real fiber fraudster still spinning lies, Twist must ply together the evidence before her own reputation gets permanently wound up in the scandal.

Hometown star Nora Solomon was poised for fame when she was found dead in her barn. It’s a sad end to a long acting career that was ready to explode with the upcoming release of two movies.
Then Nora’s nephew contacts Fitz and says Nora was murdered, even though there’s nothing to suggest that she died from anything other than a heart attack.
The actress certainly surrounded herself with some questionable characters. Her farm help did time for killing a man, her fan club president can’t be found and her abusive boyfriend is a former cop under investigation for use of excessive force. Even her nephew has a shady past with drugs and sex work—if that’s who he truly is. Any of them could be suspects in her murder.
    But are they?
The search sends Fitz down a rabbit hole of twisted relationships and explosive secrets that will tear one family apart.
