    At last Orville was free, soaring above the sand dunes, wind in his face. Lying in the glider's wing, he moved his hips in the control cradle and the craft began to turn as planned. But then something went wrong. The glider wanted to go into a spin, and as Orville struggled with the controls, it came to a standstill in midair. When Orville Wright (1871-1948) and his brother Wilbur set out to solve the problem of flight, they recognized that success would come with careful observation, perseverance, and ingenuity. From experiments in their Dayton, Ohio, bicycle shop to test flights over the beaches of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, the amateur aviation enthusiasts risked their lives and worked tirelessly to solve the problems that had stumped the world's best scientists. Together the Wright brothers designed and constructed a power-driven airplane and, in it, made the world's first controlled, sustained flights. As a result, the skies were opened and the era of aviation began. Heroes of History is a unique biography series that brings the shaping of history to life with the remarkable true stories of fascinating men and women who changed the course of history.

    Award-winning illustrator Duncan Tonatiuh brings to life debut author Gloria Amescua's lyrical biography of an indigenous Nahua woman from Mexico who taught and preserved her people's culture through modeling for famous artistsA 2022 Pura Belpré Award Author Honor BookShe was Luz Jiménez,child of the flower-song people,the powerful Aztec,who called themselves Nahua—who lost their land but who did not disappear.As a young Nahua girl in Mexico during the early 1900s, Luz learned how to grind corn in a metate, to twist yarn with her toes, and to weave on a loom. By the fire at night, she listened to stories of her community’s joys, suffering, and survival, and wove them into her heart.But when the Mexican Revolution came to her village, Luz and her family were forced to flee and start a new life. In Mexico City, Luz became a model for painters, sculptors, and photographers such as Diego Rivera, Jean Charlot, and Tina Modotti. These artists were interested in showing the true face of Mexico and not a European version. Through her work, Luz found a way to preserve her people's culture by sharing her native language, stories, and traditions. Soon, scholars came to learn from her.This moving, beautifully illustrated biography tells the remarkable story of how model and teacher Luz Jiménez became “the soul of Mexico”—a living link between the indigenous Nahua and the rest of the world. Through her deep pride in her roots and her unshakeable spirit, the world came to recognize the beauty and strength of her people.The book includes an author’s note, timeline, glossary, and bibliography.

    Mars the Warning
    Book 4 of 6 – the martian uprising
    This fourth story in the series I have written is summarized below;
    As the Martian revolt reaches its climax, Dr. Lin Mei witnesses humanity's desperate last stand at Outpost Alpha. Crystalline warships emerge from Mars' soil, dismantling human defenses with terrifying precision. General Drake's military forces are crushed at Olympus Mons, while Martian weapons systematically destroy terraforming equipment across the planet. When Martians breach the command center, their leader delivers an ultimatum through fractured translations: "Leave or perish." Drake insists on fighting, but Lin negotiates a fragile truce—humanity will abandon Mars in exchange for safe passage. As evacuation orders spread, the Martians reveal their planet's wounded ecosystems through holograms, forcing humans to confront their destructive colonization. In the shadow of crystalline armadas, Lin broadcasts the retreat, acknowledging Mars was never humanity's to claim. The uprising ends not with annihilation but a bitter lesson: coexistence requires respect, not conquest. As ships lift off, Lin glimpses a future where humans may return—not as conquerors, but as humble guests to a civilization far older than their own.
    I do hope you enjoy this fourth instalment, and its only $3.
    the initial opening credit music which does run to approximately 2 plus minutes sets the scene, so to speak, this is heavy metal first but give it a chance and you will be surprised (I felt the martian beings would be extremely angry over humans trying to steal their planet hence the sound) ends with a warning sound music track like an alarm as the next episode will see them emerge to do battle, 1 minutes plus.
    The book itself runs to about 15 minutes and is narrated in my own voice.
    I do hope you enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think, there are a lot more to come!

    A deeply personal middle-grade novel by award-winning author McCall Hoyle affirms the powerful and enduring relationship between dogs and humans.

    Ripley, an aging German Shepherd Dog, spent her life guarding the wildlife refuge with Max, the best man she’s ever known. But that was before the accident, before he gave her one final job: “Take care of the girls.”

    And Ripley has done just that—especially for Charlie, the girl Ripley loves even more than peanut butter. Ripley watches over Charlie with dedication, especially when faced with bullies who threaten the refuge. But Ripley is slowing down. She knows dogs don’t last forever.

    Sensing their time together is running out, Charlie plans a farewell adventure filled with Ripley’s favorite things—fried chicken, sandpiper chasing on the beach, and ice cream in Nags Head. Through it all, they learn that love isn’t about holding hon—it’s about lifting each other up.

    A heartwarming tribute to love, resilience, and the joy of a life well lived, Forever Ripley proves that even in goodbye, there is beauty, courage, and the promise of new beginnings.
