THE GIRL BROWNIES – ASHDOWN FOREST, ENGLAND 1919
Book 5 of 6 The Ashdown Forest Festival
The summary of this fifth book in the series is as follows:
The Girl Brownies prepare to perform their lantern adventure at Ashdown's first post-war Peace Festival. When their prized replica lantern disappears hours before the show, they spring into action - following muddy footprints (child-sized!), interrogating the village prankster, and ultimately discovering the lantern was mistakenly taken by historian Mr. Finch for his exhibit. After retrieving it, their performance becomes the festival highlight, blending storytelling with their real-life mystery-solving.
The adventure continues when Mr. Finch invites them to examine his museum's authentic lantern collection, hinting at future discoveries. Through the festival's celebrations, the girls witness their community healing from war while cementing their reputation as Ashdown's cleverest young detectives.
The initial opening credit music, “Joyful Journey”, which does run to approximately 2 minutes sets the scene, so to speak, recorder, tambourine, guitar and accordion in a folk/classical and cheerful mood. The closing music, “Bloom”, ends the tale on with more of the same at about 2 minutes and the same musical instruments etc. but more of an ending feel.
The story and music itself runs to just about 14 minutes and is narrated in my wife's voice, Claire, who actually was a ranger guide!
I do hope you enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think, there are a lot more to come

From the author of Ghost Girl comes another standalone spooky middle grade for fans of Nightbooks and Ghost Squad, about a terrifying house and the girl haunted by her experience with cancer, grief, and healing. Are you brave enough to step inside?
For as long as anyone could remember there wasn’t a house at the dead end of Juniper Drive . . . until one day there was.
When Jac first sees the House, she’s counting down to the five-year anniversary of her cancer diagnosis, when she hopefully will be declared NED, or “no evidence of disease.” But with a house appearing, and her hands shaking, and a fall off her bike, Jac is starting to wonder if these are symptoms—or if something stranger is happening.
Two classmates dare Jac and her friend Hazel to enter the House. Walking through the front door is the way in. It’s definitely not the way out. There’s something off about the House; Jac can feel it. The same way she knows it’s no coincidence that the House appeared for her five-year marker. It wants something from her. And she won’t be able to get out until she figures out what.

A brilliant collection of beautiful stories by exciting artist Lara Hawthorne. Brought to life by the melodic voice of Roisin Rankin. The collection includes four stories. Alba the Hundred Year Old Fish gently highlights the issue of pollution through the eyes of an old fish trying to teach the world how to bring colour back to the ocean. In the garden-inspired tale of Herbert's Garden, Herbert realises that each creature in the garden has something special to offer, even a slow, slimy, and greedy slug like him.The third tale, The Night Flower, takes us on a rhyming journey all the way to the Arizonan desert, where wildlife gathers to witness the special annual event of a night flower blooming. The final story, Ratty's Big Adventure, seamlessly combines story and fact and celebrates the diversity of life deep in Papua New Guinea. It is a lesson in being thankful for what you have! This collection of gentle lyrical stories includes music and nature sound effects, creating the perfect listening experience for young listeners before bedtime, or any time of the day!
