Summary

"Symbol Use" explores the pervasive role of symbolism and motifs in literature, revealing how authors use these literary devices to construct profound thematic layers. A key insight is how seemingly simple images, like trees, can evolve in meaning across different works, reflecting cultural shifts. The book emphasizes how understanding these recurring symbolic patterns enhances literary analysis, enabling a deeper appreciation of authorial intent and cultural context.

The book systematically guides readers through the process of symbol interpretation, starting with core concepts and methodologies. Subsequent chapters present case studies, analyzing specific recurring symbols and their thematic implications across various literary genres within Western literary traditions. This approach allows readers to grasp the nuances of symbolic analysis and its practical applications in literary criticism and other fields.

Learn to write fiction from a Christian perspective that impacts future generations.
Writers, there has been a void where this book should have been. Many books have been written on the mechanics of writing effective fiction, but story is more than its structure. Christian writers need not appeal to culture for its approval of what they write. Rather, they can guide readers through stories that encourage them to become the heroes and heroines that we need.
People need to be inspired, convicted, and encouraged by your stories... and The Soul of Story teaches you to do that fearlessly!

We broke our new series on learning Greek down into different learning stages. Start with the "Lower Beginner" books followed by the "Beginner" and "Upper Beginner" books. Next, progress to the "Intermediate" series, then test and reinforce your knowledge with the "Conversations" series.
This audiobook is divided into units. While it provides different learning patterns and accommodates various needs, this audiobook focuses on helping you improve your ability to understand, speak, and memorise Greek.
In Unit 1 you will hear Greek decoded with each syllable spoken very slowly and clearly with repetition. Immediately before each sentence is spoken, you will hear the translation, so you will always understand what is being said.
Unit 2 focuses solely on increasing your listening ability, which will improve your abilities to engage in dialogue with a native Greek speaker. This chapter requires you to listen very carefully to nuances in the language.
By Unit 3 you will already notice progress in your abilities to speak and understand Greek. The spoken translation is followed by two repetitions in Greek at a completely natural speed. While you are learning to process naturally spoken Greek, Units 3 and 4 will help you memorise new vocabulary and full sentences.
In Unit 5 you can test yourself on how much you have learned. If you are having difficulties, we suggest you revisit the listening, speaking, or memorisation section of Units 1, 2 3 or 4, according to what you need more help with.

“Karen and I wanted to write this book so that our fellow techies would have a comprehensive resource to help them with their own public speaking endeavors. So many folks in the tech industry have amazing ideas and experience, but they often feel stuck on how to present them effectively. Also, our hope is that more women will be inspired by our stories and encouraged to get out there and share their own valuable expertise through public speaking in order to boost representation of women tech speakers,” Poornima said.

Karen said, “Even though Poornima and I are professional speakers, we felt it was important to share our own feelings of nerves and uncertainty, and bumps we’ve had along the way - and sometimes continue to experience. It was important for us to communicate that no one is perfect and it really is okay when talks don’t always go according to plan. Our hope is that by being open, we’ll be able to give others the confidence and the techniques to handle situations when they arise, deliver an amazing presentation, and most importantly, have FUN”!
