In recounting the frustrations and delights of each new location and its unique culture, Dag probes her inner transformations. Ultimately, the shifting perspective of being perpetually out of place helped her find a sense of self.

  Kevin Hart's early stand-up performances were not always successful; he was booed off stage multiple times, and once even had a piece of chicken thrown at him. Despite these setbacks, he continued to pursue comedy, eventually finding his own style by focusing on his insecurities and life experiences.  
    
  Hart's first stand-up performance was at The Laff House in Philadelphia, under the name Lil Kev, and it did not go well. This initial failure didn't deter him, as he started entering comedy competitions in Massachusetts, where his audience receptions gradually improved.
