Summary

Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) is a Danish writer, well-known mostly for his fairytales. Although he didn't like to be called "children's author", because created fairy tales for both kids and adults. Andersen's stories are popular all over the world. Everybody knows his "The Ugly Duckling",  "The Snow Queen", "The Little Mermaid".  Many cartoons and movies were created based on his tales.  "A Cheerful Temper" is a story told by a man, who thinks that having a good temper is one of the most important things in life. As an example he describes father and his humor. The man tells us about his habits and hobbies. He also narrates about different people's tempers. In general the story is written in an ironic manner. To understand why the main character considers his temper as cheerful read the whole story.
