“That’s true according to the law of the country,” answered the king.
The wicked men then said, “We saw Daniel in his room, and there he knelt down and prayed to God three times. He did this for three days in a row.”
When Darius heard this he was disappointed that he had signed such a cruel law because Daniel was a good man and president. He couldn’t sleep that night, and in the morning the wicked governors and presidents came to him, and they reminded him of the new rule, and that according to the country of Persia no signed rule by the king could be changed. The king had no choice but to command his servants to get Daniel and throw him into the den of lions. When the servants heard what the king said, they brought Daniel to the den where the lions were kept. Darius then said to Daniel, “Daniel, I hope the God whom you pray to deliver you from the lions.”

Oh, Rats! by Miriam Allen DeFord - Orthedrin, maxiton and glutamic acid—they were the prescription that made him king of his world!
SK540, the 27th son of two very ordinary white laboratory rats, surveyed his world.
He was no more able than any other rat to possess articulate speech, or to use his paws as hands. All he had was a brain which, relative to its size, was superior to any rat's that had hitherto appeared on Earth. It was enough.
In the first week of gestation his embryo had been removed to a more suitable receptacle than the maternal womb, and his brain had been stimulated with orthedrin, maxiton and glutamic acid. It had been continuously irrigated with blood. One hemisphere had been activated far in excess of the other, since previous experiments had shown that increased lack of symmetry between the hemispheres produced superior mentality. The end-result was an enormous increase in brain-cells in both hemispheres. His brain showed also a marked increase in cholinesterase over that of other rats.
    SK540, in other words, was a super-rat.

The Battle of Life is an 1846 novel by Charles Dickens. It is the fourth of his five "Christmas Books", coming after The Cricket on the Hearth and followed by The Haunted Man and the Ghost's Bargain. The setting is an English village that stands on the site of an historic battle. Some characters refer to the battle as a metaphor for the struggles of life, hence the title.Battle is the only one of the five Christmas Books that has no supernatural or explicitly religious elements. The story bears some resemblance to The Cricket on the Hearth in two respects: it has a non-urban setting, and it is resolved with a romantic twist. It is even less of a social novel than is Cricket. As is typical with Dickens, the ending is a happy one.It is one of Dickens's lesser-known works and has never attained any high level of popularity – a trait it shares with The Haunted Man, in contrast to the other of his Christmas BooksProduced by Macc KayProduction executive Avalon GiulianoICON Intern Eden Garret Giuliano©2021 Eden Garret Giuliano (P) 2021 Eden Garret GiulianoGeoffrey Giuliano is the author of over thirty internationally bestselling biographies, including the London Sunday Times bestseller 'Blackbird: The Life and Times of Paul McCartney' and 'Dark Horse: The Private Life of George Harrison'. Learn about software testing in a fun way, by reading stories about dragons and knights. The book is a great read for children on their own, with their parents, or as an additional reading in schools. It is also for anyone who wants to know what software testing is, they will enjoy this book tremendously.

The book talks about adventures of two children, Laura and Tom, who tumble into dragons annoying villages and castles. They learn about different dragons and how to defeat them with the help of knights. The children grow into exceptional dragon experts.

Stories are explained in information technology and software testing terms and concepts, e.g. a dragon represents a software defect, and knights represent testers and developers. Reading parallels is an easy-to-understand way of learning.

In this book, Kari Kakkonen combines his passion into fantasy and software testing in a new and fascinating way, creating an enjoyable experience for the readers.

The book is suitable for ages of 9-99, although it is written for children.

“I love the idea of bringing testing and dragons together. Explaining testing ideas in this way is great for new testers to give them a broad idea of the depth of testing. The stories can sit on their own for children as well, and may encourage them to think about how they could test some of the apps they use.”

Dreams have long been a source of fascination, wonder, and mystery. From ancient civilizations to modern psychology, dreams have been viewed as gateways to hidden realms of consciousness, offering profound insight into our minds, emotions, and even our futures. In this book, we explore the concept of "Oneiric Omnipotence" — the untapped, infinite potential that lies within our dreams, waiting to be harnessed. Dreams are not merely random, nonsensical sequences; they are powerful tools that can be consciously shaped and used to unlock the vast reserves of our mind's creative and transformative capabilities.
The power of dreams lies in their ability to transcend the boundaries of our waking reality. In the world of dreams, the ordinary rules of time, space, and logic no longer apply. The dream state offers a limitless canvas for exploring alternate realities, confronting hidden fears, and visualizing our deepest desires. It is a realm where the impossible becomes possible, and the mind has the freedom to expand beyond its usual confines. Yet, this boundless potential remains largely untapped for many, simply because we often lack the awareness and tools to navigate it.
