Sinopsis

Each of us was destined to have the ultimate life. But for many of us, that dream was taken away in the heat of battle. We had the privilege of serving our countries, getting the best training possible, living and fighting alongside some of the best friends we will ever have. Destined for greatness and proving it everyday in the field of battle. Until those exact situations we were so proud to be a part of, doing our sacred duty, led us to injury, PTSD. Sometimes worse.

It left many of us broken.

How to get back from that remains a mystery to many.

But what if there is a way out? What if there is a way to reclaim our lives and not just live them, but indulge in them and live them to the fullest?

Over 20 years ago I was injured by a combatant hand grenade. I lay blind in the hospital, and was told that I’d never see again. Or if I’m lucky, I’ll see through one eye but not for long. The nightmares told me a much scarier story.

And the surgeries were excruciatingly painful.

But I made it out of there, I reclaimed my life, travelled the world, built businesses, moved countries, and even got married and have amazing kids.

It took me over 20 years to understand what I did and how I made it through.

And when I did, I immediately realised that I could help many more.

I’m not a psychologist, doctor, guru, or any other “professional”.

I just want to share my story, my tips, and my step-by-step action plan that anyone can use to build the life of their dreams.

This book is dedicated to the warriors with PTSD. and the people who love them.

The Tin Ring by Zdenka Fantlova is read by Ann Rachlin.

A unique and incredible story of love, human endurance, and willpower. How a 17-year-old girl survived the horrors of six Nazi concentration camps. The author, now 99 years old, is a compelling speaker and still available for interviews. She had one of the longest queues for her book signing when she appeared at the Hay Festival. Zdenka Fantlová's peaceful life was changed forever when she was sent to Terezín concentration camp. Here, she was given a humble engraved tin ring by her first love Arno. When he gave her the ring he said, "That's for our engagement. And, to keep you safe. If we are both alive when the war ends I will find you."

Arno was sent east on a penal transport later that same day. Zdenka survived six concentration camps including Auschwitz, Gross Rosen, Mauthausen, and Belsen - the worst of all - risking her life for the tin ring. In the last chaotic days of the war in Belsen she crawled to a Red Cross post. There she was saved by an unknown British soldier to whom the audiobook is dedicated.

"An unforgettable memoir...deserves to be read for its unique story and for its shared message about the unrelenting human spirit." (Publisher's Weekly)

"These are stories we must read and never forget." (Chief Rabbi Lord Sacks)

"Zdenka Fantlová and her story made a lasting impression. She survived six concentration camps, endured horrors the like of which most of us can't begin to comprehend, yet never lost the will to live or her optimism for a better future. During her time in the camps she kept a little tin ring, made for her by her boyfriend. She risked her life to keep this humble object that meant so much to her." Boaboa - pronounced ‘Bow-a-Bow-a’ - is the name given to a real tree—the Baobab—that imparts wisdom to a growing child in a South African garden. This stirring memoir traverses Africa and Australia following the Speer-Jordan family, who fled persecution and poverty in Varniai, Lithuania, to South Africa. The political machinations they witnessed in that time in South Africa changed the women forever in this unusual family. As the story unfolds, Isabella and Franceska’s tenacity and courage surface as they prove to be hardy and, at times, seemingly indestructible with their strong roots.Under The Boab Tree is a tale about the souls of these women connecting to the people they meet—like Princess Yasmin Aga Khan, Rita Hayworth’s daughter—and the richness of their hearts. The mother and daughter’s spiritual, political, and humanitarian awakenings in this chronicle give them power and purpose in finding truth and justice for others and themselves through adversity. This is a story about how Isabella and Franceska came to a place of acceptance and stillness, finding their ultimate saviour: love. A love that unravels and transcends exploitation and fear.
