Sinopse

Welcome to Florida. If only I had a sand dollar for every time an odd occurrence was explained away with the unique expression: Welcome to Florida.
My wife, Vikki, and I decided to leave our home state of Wisconsin and follow our dream with a move to paradise, known to us as Florida. We had vacationed in the Sunshine State many times, and the sun and the sand had always called our names, so we finally followed the calling and landed in the town of Punta Gorda, just north of Fort Myers o

-A stunning fictional debut by an award-winning poet, Catherine Temma Davidson deftly blends memories, family stories, recipes, and Greek myths in this intricate and sensuous first-person narrative. During a year-long visit to her ancestral homeland, a young Greek-American woman discovers herself through stories from the past. As she comes of age, she finds her own meaning in the tales of Persephone, Athena, and other mythic figures. She is finally able to identify with her mother's and grandmother's lives and to appreciate the unspoken understandings they share like secret family recipes. Catherine Temma Davidson has won awards from the Academy of American Poets, the Dorothy Daniels Award from PEN, and first prize at the L.A. Poetry Festival. With her ardent reading, narrator Alyssa Bresnahan evokes the deep passion of the poet's language. Her performance carries you pleasurably through the rich cultural and psychological landscapes the novel traverses.

"What do you want, boy to kill Christmas too," Santa moaned at his serial killer son.
"The Grinch has to go feed the dead, come back later," said Lance glaring with eyes like fire at the nervous crying children who wanted to sit on Santa's lap.
"Congratulations you've killed Christmas," moaned Santa feeling pity for the scared children, "Ignore the bad man he's getting coal for Christmas."
"I'm not going there, dad," said his son knowing giving coal was unwoke and he could have said many things but didn't.

In the suspenseful and darkly funny sequel to Don’t Point that Thing at Me, married life only compounds the danger facing art dealer Charlie Mortdecai.

Art dealer and degenerate aristocrat Charlie Mortdecai has gotten himself into a spot of trouble over a certain stolen Goya. In order to save himself, he must marry the beautiful, sex-crazed and very, very rich Johanna Krampf. The fly in the ointment is that Johanna thinks nothing of involving poor Charlie in her life-threatening schemes such as monarch-assassination, heroin smuggling and - worst of all - survival training at a college for feminist spies.

In After You with the Pistol, British author and art dealer Kyril Bonfiglioli continues the exploits of his immortal, amoral art dealer Charlie Mortdecai. Picking up where the previous novel, Don’t Point that Thing at Me, leaves off, this sequel offers twice the twists, quips, and hair-raising schemes.
