  Performed and Recorded at The Gaiety Theatre in Ayr on the 15th of September 2023.Following warnings of an imminent catastrophic flood, everyone has been evacuated except for Elsie and Bert, who stubbornly decided to stay put. As the wind howls and the increasingly heavy rain batters the windows outside, they sit on their bed enjoying their “picnic at the end of the world”, made from the entire contents of their freezer. Reminiscing about happier times in their candlelit sanctuary, they’re oblivious to the rapidly rising water levels downstairs. The next morning, woken by the sun shining through a gap in the curtains, Bert goes to the window to survey the damage. He throws open the curtains, then stands in stunned silence, naked and swaying, as he tries to comprehend the view that greets him.

  Featuring original music inspired by early noughties and present-day R&B and Garage, Danusia Samal's exhilarating play was first co-produced by Cardboard Citizens and Soho Theatre, and directed by the former's Artistic Director Chris Sonnex. It toured community venues across London, before a run at Soho Theatre, London, in 2022.

  Young Erasmus Cromwell-Smith II's adventure happens inside of Paris's Notre-Dame's Cathedral imaginary astrological clock. Exactly a year after his quest in Venice's astrological clock, together with the same band of now five young wizards, while seeking the path to the Orloj, the young wizard wanders across France, visiting the astrological clocks of Rouen, Lyon, Besançon, Strasbourg, Beauvais, Ploermel and finally Paris' Notre Dame Cathedral. Once in Paris, they experience a city filled with wizards, enchanters, witches, conjurers, and once more, the evil gnome. The youngsters seek clues in order to solve the mystery of how to fix the city of Lyon's long-broken astrological clock, and by doing so, become "Master Wizards." Once more, they are guided in their quest by The Orloj, the old clock, as well as Buggie and Thumbpee, his sons. Through the wicked streets of Paris, the young wizards must find six statues representing each of the human virtues of Respect, Selflessness, Tolerance, and the human flaws of Indifference, Arrogance, and Deafness. Only after they successfully master them, they earn the clues that will show them how to fix Lyon's astrological clock. The Orloj of Paris is a magical tale filled with non-stop action and thrills, a well as timeless wisdom through nine unforgettable fables and poems.

  “… my relationship with most art living or lost / is the same as yours: we will pass it by” bemoans the last poem in Jacob McArthur Mooney’s latest collection. Written as a sequence of “ghost ekphrastics” (poems inspired by works of art that neither the poet nor most living people have ever seen), Frank’s Wing constructs a whole world of lost or destroyed artifacts that have been rearticulated and resurrected, brought back to life by a fictional property baron as a dying gift to Toronto’s Art Gallery of Ontario.
  		 
  From “decadent” modern paintings torched by Nazis, to lost films, to never-performed performance art, the abiding premise of the book is that art invites mourning: not because it is mournful, but because it is vast. It taunts the plans of mortals while “a week / of kids’ videos and lip syncs / siphon through the internet each second.” Bordering ideas about FOMO and mortality are considerations of destruction itself, as the book recalls loss events predicted by both the considered works’ historical contexts and the frailties of their makers. Concerned with consuming art as much as with making it, Frank’s Wing examines the positions made available to the art-consumer: owner, overhearer, interrogator, and potentially, both destroyer and the thing that art destroys.
