Sinopsis

"We are poor people, we are simple people, but we have hearts and souls too."

Before the psychological labyrinths of Crime and Punishment, a young Dostoevsky captured the world's attention with this exquisite epistolary novel. Through a series of increasingly desperate letters, we witness the relationship between Makar Devushkin, a lowly, aging copy clerk, and Varvara Dobroselova, a fragile young seamstress. Living in squalid rooms across a dismal St. Petersburg courtyard, they exchange words of comfort, shared bread, and the flickering hope of a better life. Poor Folk is a searingly intimate portrait of the "little man" struggling to maintain his humanity in a society that views him as nothing more than a smudge on a ledger.

The Birth of Psychological Realism: Dostoevsky takes the traditional "sentimental" epistolary form and infuses it with a brutal, modern realism. He elevates the clerk—a figure usually mocked in Russian literature—to a tragic hero. Makar's obsession with his social standing and his desperate attempts to appear "respectable" even as he starves reveal the deep psychological scars of class inequality.

A Tragedy of Self-Sacrifice: As their financial situation deteriorates, the letters become a battleground between love and survival. Makar's selfless devotion to Varvara leads him to ruin, while Varvara is forced to make a heart-shattering choice between the man who loves her and the safety of a wealthy, predatory suitor. It is a story that proves the greatest tragedies are often the quietest ones, occurring behind closed doors in the poorest corners of the city.

Witness the soul of a genius in its first bloom. Purchase "Poor Folk" today and experience the novel that changed Russian literature forever.

For many years, UNITA leader Jonas Savimbi was known for his charisma, charm and brio: he convinced millions of his fellow countrymen and also international statesmen that he was Angola's and the West's best hope for democratic rule.
More than 30 years after writing a sympathetic biography of Savimbi, Fred Bridgland sets the record straight. Based on new evidence that has come to light, he reveals the rebel leader's murderous legacy. In the 1970s and 1980s, when Angola was a hotbed of the Cold War, few people would have believed that Savimbi was a manipulative and paranoid tyrant prepared to kill anyone he viewed as a threat to his power.
Tito Chingunji, the brilliant young foreign secretary of Savimbi's UNITA movement, who approached Bridgland to write the original biography in the early 1980s, risked his life to help Bridgland tell the true story of what was going on behind the scenes. This is an account of the intense friendship that developed between the two men, the adventures they shared and the terrifying challenges they faced as they revealed Savimbi's true face.

The North American Indian is by nature a symbolist, a mystic, and a philosopher. Like most: aboriginal peoples, his soul was en rapport with the cosmic agencies manifesting about him. Not only did his Manidos control creation from their exalted seats above the clouds, but they also descended into the world of men and mingled with their red children. The gray clouds hanging over the horizon were the smoke from the calumets of the gods, who could build fires of petrified wood and use a comet for a flame. The American Indian peopled the forests, rivers, and sky with myriads of superphysical and invisible beings. There are legends of entire tribes of Indians who lived in lake bottoms; of races who were never seen in the daytime but who, coming forth from their hidden caves, roamed the earth at night and waylaid unwary travelers; also of Bat Indians, with human bodies and batlike wings, who lived in gloomy forests and inaccessible cliffs and who slept hanging head downward from great branches and outcroppings of rock. The red man's philosophy of elemental creatures is apparently the outcome of his intimate contact with Nature, whose inexplicable wonders become the generating cause of such metaphysical speculations.

I’ve already written a couple of books on prophecy and premonitions including my own experiences.
But as an engineer I felt that I really had not fully communicated what I’ve learned about these abilities and how we can apply this knowledge to our lives.
Thus the purpose of this book is to be as detailed as I can be about what premonitions are and how you can use them to improve your life and change your probable futures.
As an engineer and experiencer of many modes of premonitions and prophecies I feel I have a lot to offer here and want you the reader to benefit from what I’ve learned.
Historical prophecies are also covered as are the real source of premonitional abilities, techniques to see your own futures, how far ahead people can see the future, how to use these techniques with a group of people, and much more on the importance of prophecy in our world.
The ability to change the direction of your fate is also discussed.

The massively popular 1990 novel Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton and its subsequent movie adaptations led to a huge resurgence in interest in dinosaurs and the prehistoric world. That interest continues to the present day, even though most of the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park weren’t actually from the Jurassic period. Triceratops, Velociraptor, Tyrannosaurus Rex and the huge sauropods such as Brachiosaurus that feature in the book and movies all actually belong to the Late Cretaceous period, more than 40 million years after the end of the Jurassic. Regardless, certain kinds of dinosaurs remain instantly recognizable, and among them, the “king” is undoubtedly the Tyrannosaurus.
The first discovery of a Tyrannosaurus was made in 1902 and the largest carnivorous dinosaur ever found at the time quickly gripped the popular imagination. Even its name was dramatic - Tyrannosaurus Rex means “King of the Tyrant Lizards.” The T-Rex as it quickly became known didn’t appear until the last age of the Late Cretaceous period, the Maastrichtian, but when it did, it was the biggest and most terrifying of all the theropod predators.
Thanks to the movie, there has been some unwitting confusion over the identity of the Velociraptor, and this confusion was due in large part to the fact the name sounds far more scary than the creature to which the name originally belonged. Moreover, the creature to which the label was applied in the novel and movie was actually a distant cousin named Deinonychus, but as the story goes, the author, Michael Crichton, thought “Velociraptor” sounded “more dramatic.” The actual Velociraptor lived not in the badlands of North America, but in the badlands of central-eastern Asia, and it was not nearly as intimidating as Deinonychus. In fact, the main species of genus Velociraptor - Velociraptor mongoliensis - was no bigger than a turkey.
