Summary

Psychopathology of Everyday Life presents Freud's research into slips and parapraxes from 1897 onwards. It became, perhaps, the best-known of all Freud's writings. When studying various deviations from the stereotypes of everyday behavior, strange defects, and malfunctions, as well as seemingly random errors, the author concluded that they indicate the underlying pathology of the psyche, the symptoms of psychoneurosis. According to Freud, various deviations from the stereotypes of everyday conduct - seemingly unintended reservation, forgetting words, random movements, and actions - are a manifestation of unconscious thoughts and impulses. They can be used in the therapy of neurological conditions.

At times humorous and at times terrifying, these unusual case studies of seemingly unbelievable injuries and illnesses have one thing in common: they are all entirely true. Dr. Rob Myers' firsthand medical knowledge allows him to see past thin excuses to uncover the outrageously dangerous conditions that people have gotten themselves into. Pool balls and uncooked spaghetti are removed from locations where they never should have been placed, a drunken crew of neighbors tries to use a lawnmower to trim their hedges with disastrous results, and a high school football player gets into a fight with a vending machine that stole his dollar — no scenario is too strange to appear in this volume of medical maladies.

    Code IT Primary Programming Series
Basic computer coding is now among the most important skills a child can have for their future. There are many programming languages designed specifically for children to begin their studies, but the Scratch programming language, already recognised in schools around the world, is widely considered as the ideal place to begin programming in early education.
The highly successful Code-It series is a comprehensive guide to teaching Scratch to children in a classroom setting. It is designed for the UK-based KS2 curriculum but can easily be used to supplement other programming courses for children between the ages of 7 and 11.
There are four pupil workbooks designed to work in conjunction with the Code-It teacher handbook. They provide structure and resources for the children, including optional homework activities to extend to learning outside the classroom.
Workbook 2 explains how to think, program and debug exciting programming projects such as Maths Quiz, Music Algorithm to Music Code, Slug Trail Game, Selection Investigation and Teach Your Computer To Do Maths . It also outlines how to use analytical computational thinking skills for algorithm design, algorithm evaluation, decomposition and generalisation; extend resilience and problem solving through the computational doing skills of converting algorithm into code and debugging; and consolidate sequence and repetition in programming whilst introducing selection and variable use.

We used to make things in this country. We were the dazzling innovators, the undisputed world economic leaders, and with our manufacturing engine driving the process, we built a solid, high-achieving middle class and a thriving economy. Now, thanks to policies that are either indifferent—or downright hostile—to manufacturing, we're at the brink of losing it all. If you think this won't affect you, guess again. In Make It in America: The Case for Re-Inventing the Economy, author Andrew N. Liveris presents a powerful case for the critical importance of domestic manufacturing to the long-term health of the entire U.S. economy and issues a candid wake-up call to America to reinvent its manufacturing base before it's too late.If anyone has street cred on this subject, it's Liveris. Currently chairman and CEO of the Dow Chemical Company, one of the world's largest manufacturers and of the most global corporations, he's been on the global manufacturing stage for over thirty years. In this thought-provoking book, Liveris challenges conventional wisdom and, using vivid examples from around the globe, makes clear:—Manufacturing matters—more than ever before. Not all sectors are created equal. Manufacturing can create jobs and wealth to a degree that the service sector can't match.—The Rust Belt, it turns out, isn't so rusty. Twenty-first-century manufacturing means solar cells for your home, batteries for your hybrid car, the touch screen on your smart phone, and the e-ink in your Kindle.—Government's got to get engaged. Liveris argues it's a false choice to claim that you must be either pro-business or pro-government. Globalization has changed the equation, and governments all over the world are working in partnership with—and taking action on behalf of—their leading industries. Why isn't America?Liveris sees where America is losing ground—from innovation to job creation—and explains how we can take back our future. Make It in America is a must-listen for anyone who believes that America's greatest, most productive, most prosperous days are not behind us. Our best days lie ahead of us if we take proactive measures now. They're still within reach.
