Sinopsis

"CSS Basics Explained" offers a comprehensive introduction to Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), the technology that dictates the visual presentation of web content. This book emphasizes core concepts like the CSS box model, which controls the structure and spacing of HTML elements, and CSS selectors, which target specific elements for styling. By focusing on web standards-compliant examples, the book equips readers with the fundamental knowledge needed for effective web development and web design.

A key insight is that mastering CSS fundamentals is crucial for building maintainable and accessible websites, even when using modern frameworks. The book takes a back-to-basics approach, prioritizing clarity and simplicity to enable readers to learn by doing. It begins with CSS syntax and linking CSS to HTML, progresses to selectors, and then explores the box model, cascading, and inheritance.

Through practical examples and projects, readers apply their knowledge to build real-world web page layouts. The book’s structure guides the reader from novice to competent CSS practitioner, emphasizing the importance of a solid foundation in CSS for anyone involved in front-end development.

    Off-Earth - Ethical Questions...

Can we do better in space than we've done here on Earth?

We've pinpointed the destination, refined the technology, designed the habitat. Are we forgetting something? A timely reminder that it's not just rocket science, this book explores the all-too-human issues raised by the prospect of settling in outer space. Accordingly, her work highlights the complex ethical challenges that accompany any other-worldly venture—questions about the environment, labor rights, and medical ethics, among others.

Any such venture, Nesvold contends, must be made on behalf of all humanity, with global input and collaboration. Off-Earth thus includes historical and contemporary examples from outside the dominant Western/US, abled, and privileged narrative of the space industry. Nesvold calls on experts in ethics, sociology, history, social justice, and law to launch a hopeful conversation about the potential ethical pitfalls of becoming a multi-planet species—and, ideally, to shed light on similar problems we presently face here on Earth.

Space settlement is rapidly becoming ever more likely. Will it look like the utopian vision of Star Trek? Or the dark future of Star Wars? Nesvold challenges us to decide.

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice.
What if reality is not objects in empty space, but a living architecture built from reflection, information and infinite possibility?
Between Light and Infinity offers a revolution in perspective. It proposes that everything in existence - from particles and planets to life and consciousness emerges from an underlying network of spherical reflections. Light is constantly absorbed, reshaped, and re-emitted by matter, water, air and even the atoms within us. This endless circulation of information creates a cosmic mirror system in which nothing is isolated and every interaction matters.
Drawing from modern physics, cosmology, systems theory, and the introspective depth of lived experience, this book presents a unified understanding of how the universe evolves, learns, and organises itself across all scales. Instead of approaching a “theory of everything” through equations alone, it approaches it through patterns - the universal feedback loops that generate structure, complexity, and consciousness.
    You will discover:
    • How light acts as the connective tissue of reality
    • How information forms the hidden architecture beneath matter
    • How life and mind emerge from cosmic reflection
    • Why the universe continually evolves toward complexity
    • How consciousness fits naturally into the fabric of existence
    • And why you are an active reflector in this infinite system
Both expansive and deeply personal, Between Light and Infinity invites the reader to step into a new relationship with reality - one in which every moment is part of an infinite conversation between energy, matter, and awareness. It is a book for seekers, thinkers, scientists, creators and anyone who has ever felt that the universe is both mysterious and meaningful.
This is not merely a theory - it’s a new way of seeing everything.

    Mystical Matter - Unlocking the...

The universe we see is only a small fraction of what actually exists. All the stars, planets, galaxies, and nebulae make up less than five percent of the total mass and energy in the cosmos. The rest remains invisible, undetectable by traditional telescopes, and yet it shapes the structure and evolution of everything. Scientists refer to this unseen majority as dark matter and dark energy — mysterious ingredients that hold the key to understanding the true nature of the universe.
The mystery began when astronomers started noticing something strange in the way galaxies moved. Based on the visible matter alone, galaxies should not hold together. They rotate so fast that stars on the outer edges should fly off into space. But they don’t. Something must be providing the extra gravity needed to keep them in place. This unseen substance is what scientists call dark matter. It does not emit light, reflect it, or interact with electromagnetic radiation in any detectable way. Yet its gravitational effects are undeniable.
In the 1930s, Swiss astronomer Fritz Zwicky was one of the first to point out this discrepancy. He observed clusters of galaxies and found that there wasn’t enough visible mass to account for the gravitational forces at work. He proposed the existence of “dunkle Materie,” or dark matter, to explain the missing mass. His ideas were largely ignored at the time, but decades later, further evidence confirmed his observations. Today, dark matter is widely accepted as a fundamental part of the universe, even though we still don’t know what it’s made of.

    The New Creationism - Building...

The academic culture in which science is practiced today is one of tacit - if not explicit - atheism. Nowhere is this more evident than in the scientific study of how the universe began and developed - the field of origins. This book has been written in the conviction that the first eleven chapters of the book of Genesis - the Bible's book of beginnings - provide a trustworthy and accurate account of the early history of the universe. In the increasingly secular age in which we live, it is all too easy to forget that the major disciplines of science were founded by men of broadly Christian convictions. Their names are perhaps familiar to us - Boyle, Ray, Hooke, Newton, Faraday - but there is often an embarrassed silence concerning the spiritual beliefs that motivated these scientific giants. Like the astronomer, Kepler, these men perceived that in their scientific insights they were thinking God's thoughts after him'. Today, however, there is a sense of collective amnesia about the religious motivations of these men.

Sandra Lindsay immigrated to the United States from Jamaica in 1986 with ambitions of becoming a nurse and living the American Dream. In December 2020, she became the first person to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and was subsequently honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

In First in Line Lindsay lays out her triumphs and setbacks as a single mother and working student who overcomes barriers. Her beginnings as a four-dollar-an-hour grocery store worker fortified her with the resilience to persevere over decades to become an executive at a globally recognized nationally known healthcare system.

Lindsay recounts working through the darkest months of the COVID-19 crisis in 2020. The suffering and losses she witnessed ignited Lindsay's passion for seeing an end to inequities in healthcare.

First in Line tackles a variety of issues: bias and inequity in healthcare; chronic disease in marginalized communities; maternal, infant, and Black and Brown women's health; and mental health. While Lindsay continues to beat the drum for vaccination as COVID-19 continues to impact our lives, she advocates for improved, equitable healthcare for all people who live on the margins.
