Summary

What Is Space Elevator

One concept for a transportation system that would link planets to space is called a space elevator. A cable that is attached to the surface and extends into space would be the primary component of this system. Without the need for huge rockets, the architecture of the system would enable vehicles to ascend the cable from the surface of a planetary body, such as the surface of the Earth, and enter orbit directly. Because of the enormous weight, a space elevator based on Earth could not simply be a tall tower supported from below. Instead, it would consist of a cable with one end attached to the surface near the equator and the other end attached to a counterweight in space beyond geostationary orbit. This would allow the elevator to move between the surface and the counterweight. The opposing forces of gravity, which is stronger at the lower end, and the upward centrifugal force, which is stronger at the upper end, would result in the cable being held up, under tension, and stationary over a single position on Earth. Gravity is stronger at the lower end, while the upward centrifugal force is stronger at the upper end. After the tether has been deployed, climbers will be able to use mechanical methods to repeatedly ascend and descend the tether in order to release their payload into and out of orbit.

In 2025, making money in the used vehicle business is more difficult than it has ever been. Margins have returned to pre-pandemic levels, and sales volumes are uncertain. It offers dealers a path forward, revealing the strategy and principles of a new playbook to help you find your footing and grow your profitability and success—despite a historically challenging market that continually tests your used vehicle operations. It details:

    • How data science gave birth to a new way to think about and manage each used vehicle’s investment potential
    • How to realign your acquisition, appraising, and pricing practices to your desired ROI-based strategy
    • How to determine what is the “right” money for a used vehicle
    • How to eliminate suboptimal outcomes that result from your team over-relying on tradition-based bias, belief, and best practices
    • How to establish and execute ROI-strategy-based accountability and oversight of your used vehicle operations

Invested is the new used vehicle playbook that recognizes that today’s used vehicle business requires a different strategy than that of the past. In today's dynamic business landscape, understanding the economic roles of accounting is essential: more than simply measuring change in value, accounting information plays a vital role facilitating exchanges, whether within an organization itself or in capital markets. In The Economics of Accounting, Richard M. Frankel, S. P. Kothari, and Luo Zuo take the view that earnings and other accounting outputs help firms function more efficiently by making contracts more effective, aiding decision-making, bridging information gaps, enabling price discovery, and reducing trading costs. The book provides an overview and analysis of the economic role of financial accounting. Beginning by examining the attributes of accounting earnings and their relation to stock prices, the authors present a strategic analysis of accounting earnings that recognizes the influence they have on decisions made by users and producers. These decisions shape the properties of accounting information and its application in valuation, contracting, and firms' investment choices. The authors argue that accounting information plays a pivotal role in fostering firms' commitment to stakeholder protection, leading to increased value creation for shareholders. The authors offer expert guidance through accounting and its roles in driving efficiency and value creation, unlocking its true potential.
