Summary

Burnout – Understanding the Causes, Restoring Balance offers a clear, structured, and practical exploration of one of the most pressing challenges of modern life. Burnout does not occur overnight. It develops gradually, driven by prolonged stress, constant pressure, and the loss of personal boundaries. This book explains how and why burnout emerges, how it manifests on physical, emotional, and mental levels, and what can be done to regain stability and resilience. The book begins by defining burnout and distinguishing it from temporary stress, exhaustion, and clinical depression. Readers gain an accessible overview of the biological and psychological mechanisms behind chronic stress, including how the nervous system, hormones, and cognitive processes are affected over time. Particular attention is given to common misconceptions that often prevent early recognition and timely intervention.A central focus lies on identifying both internal and external risk factors. Personal traits such as perfectionism, excessive responsibility, and a constant need for approval are examined alongside workplace pressures, digital overload, and societal expectations. The book emphasizes the importance of recognizing early warning signs before burnout becomes debilitating.Rather than offering quick fixes, this guide presents realistic and sustainable pathways out of burnout. It outlines practical steps to stabilize daily life, rebuild energy, and create structure during recovery. Therapeutic and medical options are discussed in a balanced and non-alarmist manner, helping readers understand when professional support may be appropriate and what forms it can take. The role of the body is addressed in depth, highlighting the importance of sleep, movement, nutrition, and physical regulation as foundations for long-term recovery. Mental and emotional balance is explored through evidence-based approaches to stress management, self-awareness, and cognitive restructuring. Finally, the book shifts its focus toward prevention and long-term resilience. Readers are guided in redefining priorities, setting healthy boundaries, and developing sustainable habits that support well-being beyond recovery. The goal is not merely to return to previous levels of functioning, but to establish a more balanced, conscious, and self-directed way of living.Written in a clear and respectful tone, Burnout – Understanding the Causes, Restoring Balance serves as a practical companion for individuals experiencing burnout, those at risk, and anyone seeking to better understand stress and mental exhaustion in today's demanding world.

Mark enjoyed his carefree bachelor’s life in Los Angeles. He had no steady girlfriend, no children, few responsibilities outside of work. But that all changed when “The Call” came. Genevieve, his eighty-nine-year-old mother, was on her deathbed. He rushed back to New Jersey to be by her side. Hours became days, days became weeks, then she woke up. So, he moved back into his childhood home and took over her care. His first task was to remove all hazards, which included the current caregivers.

After, Mark asked his mother, “Do you trust me?” She whispered, “Yes.” “Do you understand I will do everything in my power to keep you healthy and safe?” She smiled and nodded. “That means I’m in charge, and that means now you must obey me.” Her mood shifted in an instant. She looked him dead in the eye, then puckered up her lips. He wasn’t sure if this was a sign of surrender or one wishing him luck. He kissed her and hoped for the best.

The parent/child role reversal may not have been unique to Mark, but how he dealt with it was. One day, hoping to make Genevieve’s time on the commode a tad more pleasant, he offered her a cup of her favorite beverage. It was a hit, and a cup of tea on the commode became a staple on the morning menu, and the clear choice for the title of this intimate, funny, and heartwarming memoir of how eldercare can be done.

A Cup of Tea on the Commode chronicles Mark’s multitasking adventures of filling his mother’s last years with love, laughter, and joy. Though not always successful, he came pretty damn close.

The original "Yoga Secrets of Patanjali" are in themselves exceedingly brief, less than 10 pages in the original ancient texts. Yet, as they are based upon the great, timeless Bhagavad Gita, they contain the essence of all practical wisdom, set forth in admirable order and great detail. This timeless theme brings forth a palpable spiritual regeneration, the rebirth of the spiritual from the psychical: the same sacred theme that the realized yogis of India so wisely and eloquently set forth over 5,000 years ago.

Vyasa is the legendary Indian sage who is credited with compiling the Mahabharata, a collection of legendary and didactic poetry worked around a central heroic narrative. In India his birthday is celebrated as Guru Purnima, on Shukla Purnima day in the month of Ashadha (June–July).
Vyasa was the son of the ascetic Parashara and the dasyu (aboriginal) princess Satyavati and grew up in forests, living with hermits who taught him the Vedas. Thereafter he lived in the forests near the banks of the river Sarasvati, becoming a teacher and a priest, fathering a son and disciple, Shuka, and gathering a large group of disciples. Late in life, living in caves in the Himalayas, he is said to have divided the Vedas into the four traditional collections, composed Puranas, and, in a period of two and a half years, composed his great poetic work, the Mahabharata, supposedly dictating it to his scribe, Ganesha, the elephant god.

Perfect for all students of the eight-fold yoga path, curious commuters, and all library and school collections. A once-in-a-lifetime audio experience event. Perfect for universities and digital educational media.
