General Andrew Jackson, seeking glory to restart his political career.
A Militia Commander leading some of the most brutal killers in the South.
A Revolutionary War hero offering a bounty for Creek scalps.
Davy’s best friend, who demands vengeance for his family.
An Indian Princess who lost her mother to Red Eagle’s war.

A “colorful” novel about the fall of one of history’s most notorious figures—and the defeat that would come to define him (Publishers Weekly).   It is 1814, and Napoleon Bonaparte retreats to Paris following the debacle of his Russian invasion. Once there, the leader is met with more resistance—a plot to restore a royal to the throne of France succeeds and a humiliated Napoleon is forced to abdicate and go into exile.   Octave Senecal, Napoleon’s loyal aide and savior, tells the tale of their journey south through the angry, mob-filled countryside to Elba, a tiny island off the coast of Tuscany. Horribly bored by this turn of events, Napoleon passes the time gambling with his mother, spearing the occasional tuna with local fishermen, and fretting constantly that secret agents and murderers surround him. He also secretly plans his escape and return to glory.   With captivating historical detail and “the allure of an epic,” this novel by the award-winning author of The Battle brings to life the complex man behind the renowned general, and offers a fitting send-off to a legend (Anita Brookner).

He and his army will build a fortress on the ramparts of Rosecliffe, then return to London in triumph.   Josselyn ap Carreg Du loathes the English conquerors who are ravaging her homeland. Yet the only way to vanquish the invaders is to unite her people against them by wedding a cruel Welsh warmonger she despises even more. But when the seductive English noble who leads the assault against the Welsh turns the tables by taking her prisoner, Josselyn becomes a pawn in a political power struggle that can have no true victor.   As hate flames into unexpected desire, uniting two bitterly divided enemies, Josselyn and Rand must battle a far more formidable adversary: their traitorous hearts.  The Bride of Rosecliffe is the 1st book in the Rosecliffe Trilogy, but you may enjoy reading the series in any order.

Desperate times call for desperate measures in Kalteis’s lightning-fast crime caper story

Sonny and Clara Myers struggle on their Kansas farm in the late 1930s, a time the Lord gave up on: their land’s gone dry, barren, and worthless; the bankers are greedy and hungry, trying to squeeze them and other farmers out of their homes; and, on top of that, their marriage is in trouble. The couple can struggle and wither along with the land or surrender to the bankers and hightail it to California like most of the others. Clara is all for leaving, but Sonny refuses to abandon the family farm.

In a fit of temper, she takes off westward in their old battered truck. Alone on the farm and determined to get back Clara and the good old days, Sonny comes up with an idea, a way to keep his land and even prosper while giving the banks a taste of their own misery. He sets the scheme in motion under the cover of the commotion being caused by a rainmaker hired by the mayor to call down the thunder and wash away everyone’s troubles.
