  The Kingdom of Dahomey emerged as a dominant force in West Africa during the early 17th century, rising from a small tribal settlement to a powerful and organized state. Located in present-day Benin, Dahomey was founded by the Fon people, who established a centralized monarchy that would go on to shape the region’s history for centuries. The kingdom’s foundation was marked by military expansion, strategic leadership, and a distinct socio-political structure that set it apart from neighboring states. 
  The origins of Dahomey can be traced back to the reign of King Houegbadja, who ruled in the early 1600s. He is often credited with transforming the region into a formidable kingdom by unifying various smaller communities under a single rule. Before Dahomey’s consolidation, the region was dominated by the more powerful Allada Kingdom. However, through strategic alliances and calculated warfare, the rulers of Dahomey gradually expanded their influence, laying the groundwork for future dominance. 
  One of the key aspects of Dahomey’s rise was its strong central government. Unlike many other African polities of the time, Dahomey’s monarchy operated with an intricate administrative system. The king, known as the Ahosu, wielded absolute power but was supported by a council of advisors and military leaders who ensured efficient governance. This structured political organization allowed Dahomey to maintain stability even as it expanded through military campaigns.

  The Rashtrakutas were one of the most powerful dynasties in Indian history, ruling vast territories across the Deccan and beyond. Their origins, however, remain a subject of debate among historians due to conflicting inscriptions and interpretations. Some sources trace their roots to the Kannada-speaking regions, while others suggest connections to northern India. Despite the uncertainty, it is widely accepted that the Rashtrakutas emerged as a prominent force in the Deccan by the 8th century. 
  The dynasty first gained prominence under the rule of Dantidurga, who established Rashtrakuta authority by overthrowing the Chalukyas of Badami. However, evidence suggests that the Rashtrakutas had been a significant regional power even before his reign. The earliest references to the name "Rashtrakuta" appear in inscriptions from the 6th and 7th centuries, indicating that they were already influential feudatories before rising to imperial status. Some scholars believe they originally served as administrators or military governors under the Chalukyas before asserting their independence. 
  The question of the dynasty’s ethnic and linguistic identity has long been debated. Some sources claim that they were of Kannada origin, citing inscriptions and literary works composed in the Kannada language under their patronage. Others argue that they may have had northern Indian roots, pointing to their interactions with Rajput and Gurjara clans. Regardless of their precise origins, the Rashtrakutas embraced the cultural diversity of the Deccan, ruling over a population that spoke multiple languages, including Kannada, Sanskrit, and Marathi.

  The Austrian writer Joseph Roth's first novel, 'Das Spinnennetz', 1923, intensely chronicles the development of a fascist and the first steps in his rise to power. It is a vivid portrait of the nationalist fervor and the struggle between Right and Left in Germany during the years immediately following the end of the Great War, or First World War. Two days after its serial publication in the Vienna Arbeiterzeitung ('The Worker'), Adolf Hitler and General Erich Ludendorff set in motion the Munich 'Beer Hall Putsch'. 'The Spiderweb' - here translated by the narrator - is a prophetic look into the political machinery that was to force its author into exile in France ten years later, where he died in 1939 at the age of 45.

  Growing up in Charleston, South Carolina during the 1960's and 70's was not easy for Marvin Leroy Alston who later changed his name to Dadisi Mwende Netifnet . Raised by a good tight-knitted family, Dadisi still found time to visit some immoral places. Those distractions cause him to be placed in Special Education classes. Dadisi came to the realization after graduating from high school in 1977 that he had to move away from Charleston in order to save his life. Moving to Atlanta, Georgia and joining the Shrines of the Black Madonna Church in 1978 awaken him to a new consciousness. Dadisi soon discovered that he had the talent to write poetry. He became the recipient for the 2002 Shakespeare trophy and gold medallion for his poem "Sunshine Lady" by the National Poetry Society. In spite of the many challenges he had to face. Dadisi never gave up on improving his life. This family saga will have you listening to the very end.
