Sinopsis

Time Nature Debates explores the multifaceted and often contradictory perspectives on time from physics and philosophy. It delves into questions about time's origins, properties, and destiny, emphasizing that our understanding of time profoundly shapes our perception of reality. The book reveals that time is not a simple, uniform entity but a complex concept still being unraveled through interdisciplinary exploration.

For instance, Einstein's theory of relativity introduced the concept of spacetime, where time is interwoven with space and affected by an observer's relative motion. This contrasts with Newtonian physics, which posited time as absolute and universal. The book traces the historical evolution of time concepts and systematically introduces fundamental concepts like spacetime, entropy, and the arrow of time. It discusses Einstein's theories of relativity and their implications for time dilation, and explores the challenges posed by quantum mechanics.

Time Nature Debates examines speculative theories such as loop quantum gravity and the possibility of a multiverse, presenting competing views in a balanced manner. Readers will gain insights into scientific research and philosophical debates, exploring the intersection of science, philosophy, and cosmology.

Does the mind-body entanglement puzzle follow the scientific laws of our time? This book brings forth a revolutionary concept of a subtle crude entity to explain the expression of mind in the biological system.
It describes how this entity may link propensities, polarities, and the process of viral invasion to our ever-emerging thought process. The subtle liaison between protozoic, metazoic and unit mind, through a unified command, is proposed to control the biochemical events at the molecular level. The book advances an intuitive rationalization mode of mind to sustain the sentient values against the stationary platform, through reversible order. The role of self-created intuitive reasoning would, silently, propel the reader from chaos in to a sublime, higher order living.

"A provocative history" of intrigue and class struggle in Ancient Rome—"an important alternative to the usual views of Caesar and the Roman Empire"—Publishers Weekly.

Most historians, both ancient and modern, have viewed the Late Republic of Rome through the eyes of its rich nobility—the 1 percent of the population who controlled 99 percent of the empire's wealth. In The Assassination of Julius Caesar, Michael Parenti recounts this period, spanning the years 100 to 33 BC, from the perspective of the Roman people. In doing so, he presents a provocative, trenchantly researched narrative of popular resistance against a powerful elite.

As Parenti carefully weighs the evidence concerning the murder of Caesar, he adds essential context to the crime with fascinating details about Roman society as a whole. In this book, we find reflections on the democratic struggle waged by Roman commoners, religious augury as an instrument of social control, the patriarchal oppression of women, and the political use of homophobic attacks. The Assassination of Julius Caesar offers a whole new perspective on an era thought to be well-known.

    Medieval Medicine - Practices...

Medieval medicine was deeply rooted in the knowledge and traditions inherited from antiquity. The healing practices of this era were shaped by ancient medical texts, religious doctrine, and the widespread belief in the humoral theory. These influences created a medical system that blended scientific understanding with spiritual and superstitious elements, guiding both diagnosis and treatment.
Ancient medical texts played a crucial role in shaping medieval medical thought. The works of Greek and Roman physicians, particularly Hippocrates and Galen, were preserved and studied throughout the Middle Ages. Their teachings on anatomy, physiology, and disease informed medical practice for centuries. Galen’s theories, in particular, dominated medieval medicine, as they were seen as authoritative explanations of bodily functions and imbalances. Additionally, medical knowledge from the Islamic world, especially from scholars such as Avicenna and Al-Razi, was translated into Latin and integrated into European medical education. These texts provided new insights and expanded the understanding of disease and treatment methods.
Religion was a dominant force in medieval medical practices. The Christian Church played a central role in both medical care and the dissemination of medical knowledge. Many hospitals were founded and operated by religious institutions, and healing was often associated with divine intervention. Monks and priests studied medical texts, offering treatments based on both practical remedies and spiritual practices. Prayers, relics, and pilgrimages to sacred sites were commonly sought as cures for illnesses. Saints were believed to have healing powers, and their relics were used in healing rituals. Despite the reliance on faith-based healing, religious institutions also preserved and transmitted valuable medical knowledge, ensuring that ancient texts survived and continued to influence medieval medical practices.
