Sinopsis

Welcome to ‘Relda and The Runaway’, an engaging and beautifully sensitive tale of how the course of a young person’s life can be changed in the blink of an emerald eye. The story is an intriguing and emotional journey of a desperate runaway teenager, Micki, who fears she will be placed into care following the death of her guardian grandmother. A chance encounter with an old lady on a train proves to be life-changing. Meet Relda, just an eccentric, kind and remarkably energetic old lady. Or is she? Could she be an angel who only appears when she is needed? A story of despair, of unlikely friendship, of tears, of laughter but most of all hope.

A chance encounter with a van leads DCI Cartwright into a convoluted case riddled with coincidences. The van is en route for London but the cargo, smuggled from Amsterdam and landed by boat on the River Deben, is not quite what the courier had been expecting. The discovery of a kidnapped and assaulted Dutch student is only the beginning and Cartwright becomes suspicious of the activities of a cut-price enterprise and a dodgy antiques business in Bethnal Green where a syndicate of small-time cockney villains is looking to develop the potential for import and export of stolen jewellery and antiques and an increasing demand for cannabis.

When an elderly, world-famous magician is found dead in his Cherringham mansion, there is nothing suspicious about the passing. According to the doctor, it was a heart attack - plain and simple. But the performer's long-time assistant suspects something sinister and she asks Jack and Sarah to investigate. And like the great magician's amazing tricks, it soon becomes clear that his death is anything but simple: in the world of magic, nothing is ever what it seems, and sometimes even illusions can turn deadly...

Set in the sleepy English village of Cherringham, the detective series brings together an unlikely sleuthing duo: English web designer Sarah and American ex-cop Jack. Thrilling and deadly - but with a spot of tea - it's like Rosamunde Pilcher meets Inspector Barnaby.

Co-authors Neil Richards (based in the UK) and Matthew Costello (based in the US), have been writing together since the mid-90s, creating innovative content and working on major projects for the BBC, Disney Channel, Sony, ABC, Eidos, and Nintendo to name but a few. Their transatlantic collaboration has underpinned scores of TV drama scripts, computer games, radio shows, and the best-selling mystery series Cherringham. Their latest series project is called Mydworth Mysteries.

The narrator of the audiobook, Neil Dudgeon, has been in many British television programmes including the roles of 'DCI John Barnaby' in 'Midsomer Murders' and 'Jim Riley' in 'The Life of Riley'. He is also known for his film roles in 'The Nativity', 'Sorted' and 'Son of Rambow'. In 2012 Dudgeon starred as 'Norman Birkett' on BBC Radio 4's Afternoon Play series written by Caroline and David Stafford.

After spending nearly a decade in Texas in a codependent, though platonic, relationship with his best friend, recent Stanley Cup winner Rowan Foley, it's time to move on. His new condo is fine, but things finally start to look up when he meets his cute neighbor, Will.

Will Knight's third book is destroying him. The final installment of his horror trilogy is past due, and he can't figure out how to end it. He's got family drama that is consuming him, and his mental health is as fragile as glass. His new neighbor, however, is the perfect distraction.

The thrum of Felix's anxiety quiets around Will, and it's not long before he's in a free fall for his novelist. But Will is harboring secrets, and Felix's genuine affection for him is more terrifying than his novels.

Are the sins of the past threatening the present . . . ?

    1686, The Netherlands

After getting Master Mercurius jailed and nearly put to death with one of his schemes, the Stadhouder, William of Orange, has finally left Mercurius in peace.

But Mercurius is not able to remain in Leiden for long. A friendly debate on the sin of witchcraft has been proposed between the University of Leiden and the University of Leuven. And the scholars are to meet part-way in the city of Maastricht.

When researching the local witch trials from seventy years ago, Mercurius comes across astonishing charges that could not possibly be true. But the opposing side brings forth a witch-finder as a witness who is adamant that the women he charges bear the signs of the devil.

Before the debate can continue, the witch-finder is found brutally murdered. His body was left inside the library, locked from the inside with no other available exit.

Could this be the work of Satan? His wrath provoked by the investigation into local witch trials? Or is the culprit someone grounded much more in reality . . . ?
