Summary

The Children by Edith Wharton is a novel that explores complex social and moral themes within the context of a post-World War I Europe. The story is centered around Martin Boyne, a middle-aged engineer, who is engaged to be married to Rose Sellars, a woman he has loved for many years. However, his life takes an unexpected turn during a trip to Switzerland. While in Switzerland, Boyne encounters a group of seven children, the Wheater family, who are traveling alone. The children, ranging from a baby to a teenager, are from various failed marriages of an American heiress and an international businessman. They are charming, precocious, and somewhat neglected, and Boyne quickly becomes entangled in their lives.

Anna Cox enters the clinic with one goal—to regain control. Every movement she makes is measured, every word carefully chosen, every emotion held within boundaries she refuses to let anyone cross. In a world where observation replaces trust and vulnerability becomes data, control is the only thing she believes she still owns.
But this place was never designed for control.
It was designed to break it.
Under constant surveillance, within a system where every breath is recorded and every reaction analyzed, Anna finds herself facing something far more unsettling than exposure—the presence of someone who sees through it. Dr. Alexander Miller does not push, does not force, does not demand. He observes. He waits. And in that silence, something begins to shift.
Because control is not challenged all at once.
    It is unraveled slowly.
Between measured questions, quiet tension, and moments that linger just a second too long, a connection begins to form—subtle, unspoken, and dangerously real. One that exists within rules… yet refuses to stay contained by them.
And the more they observe each other, the more the line between subject and observer begins to blur.
Because some boundaries are not meant to be crossed…until they are the only thing left standing between control and something far more human.
🎧 Press play and step into a slow-burning psychological romance where silence speaks louder than words, tension builds beneath every interaction, and the most forbidden connection is the one that feels impossible to resist.
