She holds a PhD in Machine Learning, and graduated with gold medals in both her Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Technology degrees.She is the principal investigator of three research projects in Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Dr. Koul has authored 35 research articles, four books, and holds a patent. She also consults deep-tech startups worldwide on AI solutions, and regularly contributes to open-source software forums and blogs.Her work has been recognized with the IBM Generative AI Faculty Award (2024), the NVIDIA Research Accelerator Award (2022), and the NVIDIA Jetson Nano Grant (2020). She is also a Senior Member of IEEE and ACM.
