This book consists of three titles, namely:
1 - Depression, also known as major depressive disorder, is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how a person feels, thinks, and acts. It is characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. Depression can lead to various emotional and physical problems and can decrease a person’s ability to function at work and at home.
2 - In an age where technology provides countless ways to connect with others, it’s paradoxical that many people are more isolated and lonely than ever. The proliferation of social media platforms, instant messaging apps, and virtual communities should, in theory, make us feel more connected. However, the opposite has often proven to be true. Instead of fostering genuine relationships, these digital connections can leave us feeling empty, misunderstood, and yearning for deeper, more authentic interactions. This phenomenon is what I call the paradox of loneliness—where the very tools designed to bring us closer together end up magnifying our sense of isolation.
3 - Panic attacks are sudden and intense episodes of overwhelming fear or anxiety. They can arise unexpectedly or in response to specific triggers, and typically reach their peak within minutes. During a panic attack, individuals may experience a rapid heartbeat, sweating, trembling, shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness, and a sense of impending doom or loss of control. Other symptoms can include nausea, stomach pain, chills, or hot flashes.

Note: This audiobook is included (for free) inside its respective print and e-book versions.
Every person experiences emotions; it’s one of the most natural aspects of everyone’s life. Unfortunately, not everyone is capable of dealing with these intense feelings effectively. And, when you’ve been raised by emotionally immature parents who don’t allow you to be an individual who can express their feelings, you will be set up for failed (and sometimes even abusive) relationships in the future.
As children, our number one role models are our parents; we give them unconditional trust to guide us through the world. But when the trust is broken, and their behavior and temperament toward us are less than ideal, we can develop coping mechanisms in a bid to shield ourselves from the hurt. If your parent starved you emotionally, then you have a pretty clear picture of what this means – but it doesn't have to remain this way.
In her original, clinical psychologist Dr. Lindsay Gibson discusses this phenomenon, the effect that the poor emotional development of parents can have on their children’s lives, and practical steps you can take to break free from this cycle.
This workbook offers an immersive experience that combines summaries, key takeaways, insights, exercises, prompts, thought-provoking questions, and guided reflections to bridge the gap between the book's teachings and your life. You will embark on thorough shadow work guided by the wisdom of Lindsay C. Gibson, but there's only one rule – don't be afraid to dig deep and feel. Facing the resurfacing emotions of your past may be uncomfortable, to say the least, but it is an essential part of the process.

In this authoritative biography, historian John Man brings Saladin and his world to life with vivid detail in "a rollicking good story" (Justin Marozzi).

Saladin remains one of the most iconic figures of his age. As the man who united the Arabs and saved Islam from Christian crusaders in the twelfth century, he is the Islamic world's preeminent hero. A ruthless defender of his faith and leader, he possessed qualities that won admiration from his Christian foes.

But Saladin is far more than a historical hero. Builder, literary patron, and theologian, he is a man for all times, and a symbol of hope for an Arab world once again divided. Centuries after his death, in cities from Damascus to Cairo and beyond, Saladin continues to be a potent symbol of religious and military resistance to the West. He is central to Arab memories, sensibilities, and the ideal of a unified Islamic state.

John Man charts Saladin's rise to power, his struggle to unify the warring factions of his faith, and his battles to retake Jerusalem and expel Christian influence from Arab lands. Saladin explores the life and enduring legacy of this champion of Islam while examining his significance for the world today.

Between 1958 and 1976, the Irish American writer Mary Lavin had sixteen stories published in The New Yorker, after J. D. Salinger introduced her to the magazine. It was a prolific time for Lavin, helped in no small part by her close working relationship with her chief editor there, Rachel MacKenzie. They wrote nearly four-hundred letters to each other, the topics of which ranged from story edits to holiday plans, windfalls and legal troubles, mutual literary friends and their love of gardening, promotions and health emergencies. Within a year of working together, they were ending their letters with 'love', 'gratefully' and 'affectionately'. Lavin was soon offered the magazine's highly coveted first-reading agreement.

Gráinne Hurley's impressive debut, Gratefully & Affectionately: Mary Lavin & The New Yorker, draws extensively from Lavin and MacKenzie's letters as well as other material related to the revered magazine. It explores the collaborative relationship between this writer and her editor, Lavin's own writing process, the inner workings and editing procedures of The New Yorker and the process of publishing a story from manuscript to print during its heyday. The book also reveals Lavin's professional dealings with agents and publishers and her friendships with prominent literary figures including Eudora Welty, Frank O'Connor, William Maxwell and John McGahern.

Gratefully & Affectionately offers fascinating insight into the lives and careers of two mid-20th-century women, working on either side of the Atlantic and inhabiting the small but hallowed world of literary publishing. It reveals how their fortunate union and combined love for the written word produced some of Lavin's finest work.
