Summary

Entrepreneur Alan Chamberlain has devoted his life to building a sprawling technology empire only to see it come crashing down with one miscalculation. He risks it all on a dangerous quantum physics experiment and ends up teleported 2.5 million light years from earth to the exoplanet Proteus in the Andromeda galaxy. Marooned on this new world he encounters an elusive amphibious woman who affects him in ways he has never experienced. His idyllic life on Proteus is shattered by a forced return to Earth where Alan learns the meaning of love and death.
