Don Mark Lemon was born in Arizona in September 1877, he wrote 15 short stories and 1 novel, The Scarlet Planet, which was published in 1930.
His first published short story, Doctor Goldman, can be found in the December 1900 issue of The Black Cat which launched in 1895. The Black Cat sold for five cents and encouraged amateur writers to submit stories. As the story goes the Jack London novel The Call of the Wild might never have been written if not for The Black Cat. London wasn’t having success as a writer and was about to give up but then he sold a story, A Thousand Deaths, to The Black Cat in 1899 and The Call of the Wild was published four years later! Never give up, Never Surrender!!

We know from experience that celebrating Halloween with young children can be a little tricky. Sometimes even the decorations around town are too much! That’s why we designed a Halloween edition of Three Detail Stories. This collection features 10 slightly spooky stories that aren't too scary for those sensitive little ones. Made with kids age 4 to 10 in mind, you can rest assured these Halloween tales are G-rated and parent approved.
If you are familiar with our other audiobooks, you know that Three Detail Stories gets its name from a nightly tradition at the Leither house. At the end of the day 5-year-old River and 7-year-old Itasca cuddle up with Daddy Dude and chose three details. Then Nicholas Leither comes up with an original story on the spot, including those three details. The result is always surprising, engaging and fun. How do you fit Halloween, Santa and a dolphin into the same story? What about a treat bag, a ghost and a werewolf? Listen to find out.
