Summary

The Brangwens had lived for generations on the Marsh Farm, in the meadows where the Erewash twisted sluggishly through alder trees, separating Derbyshire from Nottinghamshire. Two miles away, a church-tower stood on a hill, the houses of the little country town climbing assiduously up to it. Whenever one of the Brangwens in the fields lifted his head from his work, he saw the church-tower at Ilkeston in the empty sky. So that as he turned again to the horizontal land, he was aware of something standing above him and beyond him in the distance. There was a look in the eyes of the Brangwens as if they were expecting something unknown, about which they were eager. They had that air of readiness for what would come to them, a kind of surety, an expectancy, the look of an inheritor. They were fresh, blond, slow-speaking people, revealing themselves plainly, but slowly, so that one could watch the change in their eyes from laughter to anger, blue, lit-up laughter, to a hard blue-staring anger; through all the irresolute stages of the sky when the weather is changing.Living on rich land, on their own land, near to a growing town, they had forgotten what it was to be in straitened circumstances. They had never become rich, because there were always children, and the patrimony was divided every time. But always, at the Marsh, there was ample.

    JULES
Jules just got a job offer and it could not have come at a better time. Days away from ending up on the streets, she has a chance encounter with Laine, a forgotten college classmate who offers her a weird proposal. If she pretends to be his girlfriend for a few weeks, she and her mother can keep their home.
But, why would Laine, who has become richer than god, need someone to pretend to be his girlfriend? And why would he reach into the past and ask her?
    LAINE
Laine breaks things. Companies, markets, hearts, nothing is safe once he sets his sights on them. That's what made him a billionaire and why everyone worships the ground this cocky ass walks on.... That is, everyone except for one man. And for Laine, that one man is the only person who matters.
    REED
Unlike Laine, his long-time best friend, Reed couldn't care less about money. In fact, after college, while Laine was becoming a corporate raider, Reed moved to a small island in the Bahamas to run an after school program for less privileged kids.
His is a quiet life... that is, except for when Laine comes to visit. So, when Laine invites Reed to stay with him on Laine's private island telling him that he will be bringing a guest, Reed braces himself for what could follow. But, as much as he prepares himself, he could never guess what Laine would do next, and how much it would change their feelings for each other.
'Hurricane Laine' is a steamy bisexual romance with as many laughs as twists and turns. Loaded with enough MM, MFM, and MMF scenes to make your toes curl, it will leave you satisfied with its not-to-be-missed HEA ending.

Don't Look Now by Henry Kuttner - That man beside you may be a Martian. They own our world, but only a few wise and far-seeing men like Lyman know it!
The man in the brown suit was looking at himself in the mirror behind the bar. The reflection seemed to interest him even more deeply than the drink between his hands. He was paying only perfunctory attention to Lyman’s attempts at conversation. This had been going on for perhaps fifteen minutes before he finally lifted his glass and took a deep swallow.
    “Don’t look now,” Lyman said.
The brown man slid his eyes sidewise toward Lyman; tilted his glass higher, and took another swig. Ice-cubes slipped down toward his mouth. He put the glass back on the red-brown wood and signaled for a refill. Finally he took a deep breath and looked at Lyman.
“Don’t look at what?” he asked.
“There was one sitting right beside you,” Lyman said, blinking rather glazed eyes. “He just went out. You mean you couldn’t see him?”
The brown man finished paying for his fresh drink before he answered. “See who?” he asked, with a fine mixture of boredom, distaste and reluctant interest. “Who went out?”
“What have I been telling you for the last ten minutes? Weren’t you listening?”
“Certainly I was listening. That is—certainly. You were talking about—bathtubs. Radios. Orson—”
“Not Orson. H. G. Herbert George. With Orson it was just a gag. H. G. knew—or suspected. I wonder if it was simply intuition with him? He couldn’t have had any proof—but he did stop writing science-fiction rather suddenly, didn’t he? I’ll bet he knew once, though.”
    “Knew what?”

When life has taught you to hide, can you ever spread your wings in the light?
Writing songs has always been the way that Beatrice Cipriani processes the world around her, but as a painful introvert, none of those songs are ever performed. She excels at being invisible—she’s the best server in a fancy restaurant. Sometimes, though, it feels like she’s dying a little more with every passing day.
Easton Moorland has finally made it big, but with a public company comes a board that has demands. As the chairman of a luxury brand, all eyes are on him, and they want him to look the part. That means he needs a girlfriend, or better yet, a wife. Only, Easton’s never had time to date, much less to develop any kind of relationship.
When the board insists that Easton sign up with an exclusive dating agency, he takes his first match to the nicest place in town. Only, he can’t remember his date’s name—he’s too enthralled by their server. It’s a woman he’d met before—it’s his sister Elizabeth’s new sister-in-law, in fact.
But can a dating newbie like Easton coax a painful introvert into the limelight at his side? Or will old fears destroy their chance at a happily ever after before it can even begin?
