The author has discovered for us in this volume the present stopping place of that famous raconteur of dear comic memory, the late Hieronymous Carl Friederich, sometime Baron Munchausen, and he transmits to us some further adventures of this traveler and veracious relator of merry tales. There are about a dozen of these tales, and, judging by Mr. Bangs' recital of them, the Baron's adventures on this mundane sphere were no more exciting than those he has encountered since taking the ferry across the Styx. Mr. Bangs proves himself well worthy of the task of reintroducing this merry old wag to modern fun-lovers, and in selecting from the tales the Baron has related to him he has chosen with an eye to the humorous which is unfailing in its clearness and keenness of perception. From a Booker Prize-longlisted author, a novel in which a woman tries to overcome her abusive past and find her estranged sister in a deeply moving and darkly humorous quest for redemption
Foul-mouthed, scrappy, and self-destructive, Steffie is her own worst enemy. Sustained by her sardonic sense of humor, she spends her days working at a dry cleaner and tending to her ailing, impoverished, abusive father. She was always his favorite, a fact that leaves her racked with guilt; her sister, Caroline, who bore the brunt of his rage, fled when they were both teenagers.
When her father dies, Steffie sets out to find Caroline, seeking love and forgiveness in a world that has too often denied her both. Along the way, she must confront her own memories, and the choices that have brought her to this point.
Written in the working-class British realist tradition of Douglas Stuart and Andrea Arnold, No Such Thing as Monday cements Siân Hughes’s reputation as an exceptional and compassionate chronicler of precarious and chaotic lives.

Say a lot without saying anything (and get applause for it)
Use pauses, squints, and sighs to look like a genius
Win debates without facts (or shame)
Drop philosopher names you've never read (convincingly)
Bullsh*t your way through work meetings, parties, and even Twitter
Whether you're looking to survive awkward small talk, impress strangers at brunch, or gaslight your way to the top of the corporate ladder, this handbook is your guide to becoming a certified conversational menace.

Mirrors is a look at the panopoly of mirrors we confront in our modern daily life - for better or worse. Ongoing self reflections are unavoidable and come in all forms from the expected to the unexpected. They catch us unawares, they catch us self-reflecting and they catch us trying to cover up our faces with makeup and sometimes trying to disguise our mood, As far back as the fifth century BC Greeks were looking in hand mirrors as portrayed on ancient pots. This story uncovers some of our journeys with mirrors.
