Summary

'EIGHT YEARS WITH RANGERS, MORE THAN 300 GAMES, INCREDIBLE HIGHS, PAINFUL LOWS – AND IT ALL CAME DOWN TO ONE NIGHT IN THE NOU CAMP'
24 May 1972. The biggest night in the history of Rangers. Having overcome the might of Italian giants Torino and Beckenbauer's Bayern Munich en route to the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup, Dynamo Moscow stood between the Light Blues and the trophy.
The stage was set in Barcelona for an unsung hero: Dave Smith. Creator of two of the goals on the night and arguably man of the match.
In a rollercoaster career, Smith joined the Ibrox club from Aberdeen in 1966 for a record fee. He tasted defeat in the 1967 European Cup Winners' Cup final and had his career blighted by two horrific leg breaks during a period in which he also experienced the tragedy of the Ibrox disaster.
But by 1972 Smith was a lynchpin of Willie Waddell's team. Playing as sweeper, he dicated the tempo of games with his vision and pinpoint passing. The star of the Nou Camp victory was voted Player of the Year in Scotland to cap the most memorable of seasons.
He departed Rangers in 1974, making a shock switch to Arbroath after a fallout with new Ibrox manager Jock Wallace, before going on to star overseas in South Africa and then alongside George Best for the LA Aztecs in America. Rejecting the chance to join Paris Saint-Germain, Smith chose to end his career in Scotland's lower leagues as player-manager at Berwick Rangers where he would find success and happiness playing the game the way it was meant to be played.

From the director of the wildly popular Bush Mechanics and Black As - a can-do guide for your next outback adventure filled with practical advice, ripper yarns and road-trip tips.

Driving around Australia is one of life's biggest adventures, if you're crazy enough to do it. But as anyone who has broken down on the Nullarbor can attest, it's nerve-wracking to head out into the big red.
David Batty knows how to get out of hairy situations because he's wound up in a bunch himself. From nearly being washed away by flash floods in the Kimberley to being marooned on an island in the Top End eating stingray, Batty's Bush Bible is chock-full of yarns from David's four decades as a film director in the most remote regions of Australia. He has lived in Alice Springs and Broome longer than he has in the Big Smoke, has traversed the Tanami Track between Alice Springs and Darwin hundreds of times and reckons he's done more laps of Australia than a Qantas plane.
This book also contains the wisdom of many of the First Nations people he has worked with throughout his career, including interviews with the original Bush Mechanics and Black As boys. You'll find out how they stuff blown tyres with spinifex, fashion mulga wood into gear sticks and keep cars going long after their used-by date - and learn how to have a whirl yourself.
Batty's Bush Bible is your guide to going bush and living to tell the tale. Filled with practical advice, ripper yarns and road-trip tips, it's designed to be picked up, put down, tossed in the glove box or, if you really need it, used for kindling to cook your tailgate dinner. So whether you're a grey nomad, living your best #vanlife or just looking to do a bit of imaginative armchair tourism, this book is your bible for how to stay out of trouble in the outback - and make your own.

The essays in Trout Bum are reflective, bitingly humorous, and enormously wise in the ways of fishing and men. In vivid, unforgettable detail they recount the emotional, spiritual, and tangible adventures and pleasures of stalking trout in and around the Rockies—day in, day out, from season to season, with friends, and alone. John Gierach's essays join the literary tradition of angling classics like The River Why, and A River Runs Through It.

Golf is a sport deeply rooted in tradition and technique, making it essential to build a solid foundation before advancing to more complex skills. Understanding the basics ensures you not only enjoy the game but also improve steadily over time.
To begin, it’s crucial to familiarize yourself with the history of golf and how it has evolved into the game we know today. Golf’s origins date back several centuries, with Scotland being widely regarded as the birthplace of the modern game. Knowing this background fosters an appreciation for the traditions and etiquette that define the sport.
Equipping yourself with the right gear is another key step in mastering the basics. Golf clubs come in a variety of types, including drivers, irons, wedges, and putters, each designed for specific shots. Understanding their functions and learning how to select the right club for each situation can significantly impact your game. Beyond clubs, you’ll also need to consider golf balls, shoes, gloves, and apparel suited to different weather conditions.
Rules and etiquette form the backbone of golf, emphasizing respect for the game, the course, and fellow players. Learning the rules is not only about avoiding penalties but also about ensuring smooth and enjoyable play. Key principles include maintaining pace of play, repairing divots, and marking your ball on the green. Golf etiquette highlights the importance of courtesy, such as remaining quiet during another player’s swing and waiting your turn to hit.

"A must-read for anyone who loves Kruger and adventure." - Tony Park
WALKING WILD is not your typical safari - no game drives, no cool sundowners and definitely no fences. Instead, it's 605 km of dust, sweat and unforgettable moments as an unlikely group of strangers sets out to walk the entire length of Kruger National Park. Over six stages and three years, they walked from Crooks' Corner in the far north to Malelane in the south, averaging 20 km a day with heavy backpacks and only the wild for company.
Led by two armed guides, they braved blistering heat and violent storms. At night, as hyenas nosed their tents and lionesses strolled right through camp, some slept soundly - others lay wide eyed, waiting for dawn. They drank from murky trickles in dry riverbeds, navigated thick riverine bush teeming with hippo, buffalo and crocodiles, and slowly learnt to read the bush - from the smallest antlion to the distant roar of a lion.
But Kruger's wilderness is not without its challenges. Poachers - both criminal syndicates and those in search of bushmeat - move in the shadows, rivers bring pollution from beyond its borders, and conservation battles rage on. WALKING WILD captures the magic and the madness of life on foot in one of the world's most iconic national parks. It's a story of adventure, camaraderie and deep immersion in the wild - a journey that leaves no one unchanged.
WALKING WILD is a testament to resilience, discovery and the deep connection between people and nature. If you've ever dreamt of experiencing Kruger beyond the safari vehicle, this book is your ticket to the trail.
