And now, they demand he commit an unspeakable act. But Jimmy has enough scars of his own. When the full truth of the corruption within the Order comes to light, Jimmy must act. McCammon, Willow Rose, and Joe Hill, you’ll love this ghostly dark fantasy filled with enough occult and supernatural to scratch that horror itch!“I am a huge fan of this series, and so far, this is my favorite. The characters are well developed and familiar, and the terror is worse than ever. The story traces the history of the titular street in a New England city, presumably Boston, from its first beginnings as "but a path" in colonial times to a quasi-supernatural occurrence in the years immediately following World War I. As the city grows up around the street, it is planted with many trees and built along with "simple, beautiful houses of brick and wood", each with a rose garden. As the Industrial Revolution runs its course, the area degenerates into a run-down and polluted slum, with all of the street's old houses falling into disrepair.
After World War I and the October Revolution, the area becomes home to a community of Russian immigrants. Among the new residents is the leadership of a "vast band of terrorists," who are plotting the destruction of the United States on Independence Day. When the day arrives, the terrorists gather to do the deed, but before they can get started, all the houses in the street collapse concurrently on top of each other, killing them all. Observers at the scene testify that immediately after the collapse, they experienced visions of the trees and rose gardens that had once been in the street.

Some very few amongst are a little different. They look the same, possibly act the same but, somehow, we might suspect that they are a little out of tune, a little off.

Their difference is that they have dark powers. Powers for the greedy benefit of themselves and not you or I. In these stories our authors have them doing some quite unconscionable actions that disturb and menace those around them and of course you and I.

PLANNING PERMISSION: The phone call had been taken by Sandy, the office clerk, who had a habit of jotting down almost everything the caller said. This was useful for Michelle, who as Planning Enforcement Officer was required to make an entry in the planning file before she went out to investigate.
