Over the last few years, I have spent considerable time deepening my spiritual quotient. It all started in 2013 when I took up Vipassana meditation and started practicing seriously, and later developed an interest in reciting certain mantras.
I have titled it "UnSexy Spirituality". The reason for this title is pretty straightforward, I am sharing insights into the core concepts of Sanatana Dharma (Indian Spirituality) without any hype. The intent is to share the insights I have gained from my journey thus far.
You will find many books on the shelf that mix mysticism with Indian spirituality, my attempt is to present Indian spiritual concepts as is without mysticism and hence the play of the word Unsexy.
The Audiobook is thoughtfully designed for people to “Listen”; and “Contemplate”. The process of repeat listening and then contemplating the concepts mentioned in the audiobook is the key to fully digesting these concepts. It allows seekers to find clarity as well as uplift themselves to higher awareness levels.
I have compiled this wisdom into 14 chapters that simplify the core concepts which have kept me as well as other Indians and many westerners confused.

Schools do amazing work to support children from disadvantaged backgrounds. But this book will enable them to do more. Disadvantage comes in many forms, but cultural poverty, where some students have relative knowledge gaps compared with their more affluent peers, can be addressed successfully by schools. The Working Classroom explores how working-class students are disadvantaged by a flawed system and what schools can do to close the gap.
Written by two experienced authors with a deep understanding of the challenges that poverty and low aspiration can bring, and a passion for social justice, The Working Classroom examines how and why we must seek systemic changes. The book focuses on actions within the control of teachers and school leaders which will ensure that we create a socially just education system - one that builds on the rich heritage of the working-class, rather than seeing their background as a weakness. It offers practical ways for students and families to build on the best of working-class culture, whilst also empowering teachers, students and parents to change the system.
The Working Classroom provides teachers with useful methods to improve the cultural capital of students from disadvantaged backgrounds that can be easily replicated and implemented in their own setting. Backed up by practical case studies that have a proven impact in schools with high levels of deprivation, this book will enable teachers to audit their current provision and encourage them to adopt new systems and practices so that they, and the wider school, will have a greater impact on the lives of working-class students and their families.
Suitable for both teachers and leaders in a secondary school or sixth form college setting who seek to support social change in education and anyone in the corporate or non-education world who wants to practice effective altruism or philanthropy.

The final installment in the groundbreaking The Venture of Islam series, “a monumental three-volume interpretation of Islamic civilization” (Review of Middle East Studies).   The Venture of Islam has been honored as a magisterial work of the mind since its publication in early 1975. In this three-volume study, illustrated with charts and maps, Hodgson traces and interprets the historical development of Islamic civilization from before the birth of Muhammad to the middle of the twentieth century. This work grew out of the famous course on Islamic civilization that Hodgson created and taught for many years at the University of Chicago. In this concluding volume of The Venture of Islam, Hodgson describes the second flowering of Islam: the Safavi, Timuri, and Ottoman empires. The final part of the volume analyzes the widespread Islamic heritage in today’s world.Praise for The Venture of Islam “This is a nonpareil work, not only because of its command of its subject but also because it demonstrates how, ideally, history should be written.” —The New Yorker   “In placing Islamic society in a context encompassing not only Islam outside the Middle East proper but contemporary societies such as western Europe and China, he provides a prospective sorely missed in most works on the subject.” —Linda C. Rose, History

Chivalry, a code of conduct and a set of ideals, emerged during the early Middle Ages, forming the backbone of the knightly order and defining the conduct of warriors across Europe. The origins of chivalry can be traced back to the feudal system, where the role of the knight was essential in maintaining the social and political structure of the time. Knights were initially seen as mounted warriors serving a lord or king, and their duties were deeply intertwined with the political and military landscapes of medieval society.
The concept of chivalry grew from various sources, including the martial traditions of early medieval Europe, the influence of the church, and the rising importance of courtly love in literature. Early codes of conduct, though not uniform, emphasized qualities such as bravery, loyalty, and honor. These ideals were primarily martial in nature, as knights were expected to protect their lords and lands from invaders. Over time, however, the influence of Christianity began to shape the code of chivalry, adding elements of piety, mercy, and the protection of the weak.
One of the key influences in the development of chivalry was the rise of feudalism. As the Roman Empire fell and Europe entered a period of fragmentation, the feudal system became the dominant form of social and economic organization. Lords granted land to vassals in exchange for military service, and knights became essential for the protection of these lands. This system encouraged the development of a warrior class that was bound by loyalty and honor, principles that would later become central to chivalric codes.
