Sinopsis

Ministry is a love-hate relationship. There are times when preachers love it, and times when they hate it. "We Do Not Lose Heart" is an exegesis of Second Corinthians that edifies ministers and missionaries when they encounter certain hardships in their ministry. Such hardships, when not handled properly, can lead the preacher down a pathway of despair and discouragement. Paul was not only an apostle, but a minister and missionary of the gospel as well. Throughout Paul's ministry, the countless trials, false accusations, and many defeats should have meant that, by human standards, he was a defeated man. On the contrary, however, these hardships became a testimony to the faithfulness of Paul's ministry because he refused to lose heart. Thus, ministers and missionaries who desire to keep their ministry alive would do well to study Paul's inspired letter of Second Corinthians where he defends his ministry and explains why he does not lose heart.

Spiritual warfare is a battle against the dark forces of the enemy. It is a fight that has eternal consequences. It is serious business, and rightly so. But have we been so focused on the darkness that we have overlooked the Light?

Many of us exhaust ourselves striving against Satan in our own strength, unknowingly employing the enemy's own tactics rather than resting in Christ's triumphant finished work. These methods frustrate us and keep us from experiencing victory and deliverance.

That is all about to change as we move from being victims of the darkness to becoming victorious warriors of the light. Bestselling author Joshua Mills explains that in these momentous times, God wants us to recover His original plan for spiritual warfare. He is providing us with a higher revelation, with better tools for overcoming, so we can release His powerful light. When the light shines, darkness must flee.

Light warriors choose to stand in the light and not back down from the darkness. As you learn how to become a spiritual light warrior, you will release healing, activate angels and disarm demons, be set ablaze with God's power, live in heavenly light, and shift atmospheres for spiritual victory.

One of the most widely discussed philosophers of the 21st century finds common ground between spiritual and secular ethics in this provocative book.As controversial and he was influential, Richard Rorty developed a brand of philosophical pragmatism that rejects all theories of truth. His groundbreaking work also dismisses modern epistemology and its preoccupation with knowledge and representation. Though he was a strict secularist, Rorty believed there could be no universally valid answers to moral questions. This led him to a surprisingly complex view of religion rarely expressed in his writings. In this posthumous publication, Rorty finds in the pragmatic thought of John Dewey, John Stuart Mill, William James, and George Santayana, among others, a political imagination shared by religious traditions. Rather than promote belief or nonbelief, Rorty seeks to locate patterns of similarity and difference so an ethics of decency and a politics of solidarity can rise. He particularly responds to Pope Benedict XVI and his campaign against the relativist vision. Whether holding theologians, metaphysicians, or political ideologues to account, Rorty remains steadfast in his opposition to absolute uniformity and its exploitation of political strength.

HALLOW'S PRAY40 LENT BOOK CHALLENGE PICK!The Brothers Karamazov is widely recognized as one of the greatest novels ever written. Its power lies not in the drama between the brothers, the intrigue of its murder mystery, or the suspense of its courtroom finale, but in the questions at its heart: Is God real? And if He is, then what does that mean for me?At its core, it is a story of fathers and sons—of a father’s sins and the brokenness of his children, each struggling with who God is and what they owe to one another. Dmitri’s reckless passion mirrors his father’s corruption, Ivan’s cold rationalism rebels against it, and Alyosha’s tender compassion reflects the quiet holiness of his mentor, the soldier-turned-monk Father Zossima.Through their tragic, comic, and deeply human collision, Dostoevsky shows how sin and love ripple outward, shaping the lives of all who are connected to us. He invites each of us to step toward mercy: to confront our divided hearts, to return to God, and to be drawn back into authentic communion with one another. In the end, as Father Zossima teaches, “Love is such a priceless treasure that you can redeem the whole world by it.”

'Everyone can derive joy and hope from the communications of another, for what we are told about the higher worlds is not mere theory, unrelated to life. As its fruits, it brings us two things we must have if we are to lay hold of life in the right way – strength and security – and both are given in the highest measure.' – Rudolf Steiner Rudolf Steiner speaks with great clarity and precision on the fundamental nature of the human being in relation to the cosmos, the evolution of the Earth, the journey of the soul after death, reincarnation and karma, good and evil, and the modern path of meditative training. Throughout, his emphasis is on a scientific exposition of spiritual phenomena. As he says in the final lecture: 'the highest knowledge of mundane things is thoroughly compatible with the highest knowledge of spiritual truths'. This popular course of lectures offers a fine introduction to the whole of Steiner's teaching, and is an excellent complement to his fundamental texts. At the same time, it features valuable material that cannot be found elsewhere, such as two rare question-and-answer sessions, where the lecturer offers immediate and often surprising responses to audience members' queries. This new edition features an introduction by Brien Masters, notes and an index. Fourteen lectures, Stuttgart; Aug.–Sept. 1906, GA 95
