Summary

Graph Machine Learning, Second Edition builds on its predecessor’s success, delivering the latest tools and techniques for this rapidly evolving field. From basic graph theory to advanced ML models, you’ll learn how to represent data as graphs to uncover hidden patterns and relationships, with practical implementation emphasized through refreshed code examples. This thoroughly updated edition replaces outdated examples with modern alternatives such as PyTorch and DGL, available on GitHub to support enhanced learning. The book also introduces new chapters on large language models and temporal graph learning, along with deeper insights into modern graph ML frameworks. Rather than serving as a step-by-step tutorial, it focuses on equipping you with fundamental problem-solving approaches that remain valuable even as specific technologies evolve. You will have a clear framework for assessing and selecting the right tools.By the end of this book, you’ll gain both a solid understanding of graph machine learning theory and the skills to apply it to real-world challenges.

Weren't they richer, rock pools, wasn't the seashore busier, when I was a kid?

Richard Smyth had always been drawn to the natural world, but when he became a father he found a new joy and a new urgency in showing his kids the everyday wild things around them. As he and his children explore rockpools in Whitley Bay, or the woods and moors near his Yorkshire home, he imagines the world they might inhabit as they grow up.

Through different objects discovered on their wanderings - a beech leaf, a jay feather, a limpetshell - Smyth examines his own past as well as that of the early natural historians, weaving together history, memoir, and environmentalism to form a new kind of nature writing: one that asks both what we have lost, and what we have yet to find.

Welcome to a night of Deep Refreshing Sleep
This Audiobook gives you a bundle of two 12 hour programs.
The programs begin after a short narration of guided imagery to prepare you for sleep.
Program One: 12 hours of the sounds of a Mountain Stream and the Soothing Tones of Calming Classical Music.
Program Two: 12 hours of just the sounds of a Mountain Stream without the classical music.
The musical tones are serene arrangements of the most-loved, composers: Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, Mozart, Pachelbel, Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky and more.
The producer of the audiobook is an award-winning sound designer and composer. When he and his wife struggled with sleep apnea, he searched for an audio program that would help. "I mostly found cheap sound effects with repetitive, looping tones. Granted, my background makes me a little picky, but I found these programs more annoying than relaxing."
So he set out to record the best sounds he could find. The ocean waves, rain, thunder, streams and waterfalls are all original recordings.
Next, he experimented with tones. This program is the first to include arrangements of beautiful classical music. "I have produced over twenty experimental programs now and have had sleep doctors, patients, as well as my own friends and family members try them on. This current series of “Sleep Sounds" has been very well received and has been proven to be the most effective by the largest number of people."

    Treatise on Light

Treatise on Light was published in 1690 and is probably the largest scientific volume on light published before Newton's Opticks. The book explains how light travels (i.e., that it has a certain velocity), and what happens when it hits a surface (refraction and reflection). A large portion of the book is devoted to the double refraction occurring in Iceland chrystal, and all drawn conclusions are proved geometrically. Christiaan Huygens (1629 - 1695) was a prominent physicist and astronomer. His main discoveries are the centrifugal force, collision laws for bodies and the argument that light consists of waves. He was a contemporary of Galilei and Descartes, and a member of the French Royal Society since 1663. (Summary by Availle)
