Summary

Zander, the tiger shapeshifter was seriously injured after winning the first battle against the blood slavers.

Kazar, the lion shapeshifter, after almost losing him in his arms, is willing to recover the bond that unites them, regardless of the rudeness and attacks of his former best friend.

The reconciliation between the males was already complicated; when they feel irrationally attracted to the same female, it seemed impossible.

The battle they are about to face will be the most challenging of their lives as warriors, as it will be against their own demons and fears, mistakes, and feelings.

    ____
Andrey Kurkov's war diaries continue: A profound and deeply personal chronicle of life under siege.
In this second volume of his acclaimed war diaries, Ukraine's greatest living writer bears witness to a nation enduring the unendurable. From his home in Kyiv, Kurkov captures the surreal and the life-shattering: children learning algebra in metro stations turned bomb shelters, holidaymakers sunbathing on mined beaches, and farmers sowing fields shadowed by missile strikes.
On its eastern borders, Ukrainian citizens are put into "filtration camps", en route to Russia … or to execution. To the north, Belarusian forces press refugees into service as mine detectors.
This is a lived account – rich with startling vignettes, dark humour and devastating detail – of a country adapting, resisting, surviving. A child downloads movies to a smartphone to watch during nightly power cuts. An elderly Japanese man feeds the hungry in Kharkiv. A soldier carefully rehomes a swarm of bees. A winemaker uses scrap wooden shell crates to package gift sets. A Ukrainian gunner inscribes messages on shells and rockets aimed for Russia: "For Bakhmut", he writes. The family of a journalist killed in the Donbas sells their home to open a bookshop in his memory.
Our Daily War is Kurkov at his most intimate and insightful: a record of resilience, heartbreak and fierce national pride. Urgent, humane, unforgettable, this is history as it happens, and as only Kurkov can write it.

This is a story about God, guilt, love, lust, and Faith...lost...and then found again. It's about a woman and two pilots, one of whom cheated on his wife. It asks some interesting questions: "Is the 'Other Woman' always a tramp?" and "Can I still be a decent person after I cheated on someone who trusted me?" The story is told by one of America's most familiar radio and tv voices, Dick Summer. In fact, it started with an actual on-air 'confession' by one of the people in the story on Dick's NBC radio program.

    Lights, camera, murder
In the Lake District, someone’s laying on a deadly welcome…
The cast and crew of a popular TV crime drama are shooting in the Lake District – but behind the scenes, relationships are as tense as on-screen. The director’s reputation proceeds him, the two lead stars are feuding and rumours swirl.
Meanwhile the locals are enjoying the filming – Amita Kahtri and her friends from Penrith Bingo Club are becoming social media stars with their behind the scenes pictures from filming – although her son-in-law, Jason is taking it all with a pinch of salt.
But when on-screen slaughter gets swapped for real-life murder at the concert hall where the TV drama is based, and the genuine police are as baffled as the TV detectives, it falls to the locals to search for the truth. It seems like a taste of fame can be deadly – but what happens when a killer’s plots are wilder than anything the writers can dream up?
The humorous satire of the locals social media fame provides a stark contrast to the chilling mystery that unfolds in the concert hall. As the cosy, domestic stories of the cast and crew intertwine with the deadly plot, the line between fiction and reality blurs in this gripping thriller.
For fans of Peter Boland (THE VANILLA KILLER an absolutely gripping British mystery full of twists), Hannah Hendy (A Terrible Village Poisoning), Richard Osman (The Bullet That Missed), Penny Blackwell (Murder at the Bonfire), and Richard Coles (Murder Under the Mistletoe).
