Summary

Nameless Lake is about the unspoken pressures of gender and desire, told through the shifting dynamics of a lifelong friendship. Emma and Madryn grow up with dreams of escaping their seaside hometown, sustained by an obsession with photography and secret acts of vandalism. But adulthood brings its own limitations, and Emma yearns for connection beyond the constraints of her family. Drawn deeper into Madryn's private life, Emma feels new possibilities awakening within herself, but when Madryn faces a backlash from her controlling partner, Emma must finally break out of her role as passive observer.

The Fairy Book of Astronomy — A Lost Classic Back in Print Katharine Fay Dewey’s only novel was forgotten by time, going out of print after only one edition was published in 1910… and now her legacy has been given new life. The traditional mythology of the zodiac constellations is well-known, but what happened after those stories were over? How do the people in the sky now interact with each other, with other beings of the heavens, and with those down on Earth? Here, four girls illuminate the Star People’s adventures in a series of intricately woven tales of friendship, coming-of-age, and found family in the ever-shifting landscape of the celestial sphere. This new edition contains original illustrations by Frances B. Comstock and a foreword from author and journalist D.P. Benjamin that reveals long-lost information on Katharine Fay Dewey. Like sailors using the night sky to navigate a vast ocean, Star People and the story of its author have found their way to a new, modern readership.

The year is 2144, and the world is powered by sport - politically and practically. Each community owes its prosperity or otherwise to the success of its teams and athletes. A person's class is determined by their aptitude for sport. Once their useful life as an athlete has expired, they are placed in stasis at an age predetermined by that class. But not in Wales. Separated from the rest of the world by a huge wall, the Welsh still play games for joy. They play, they carouse, they love, they die. They have fun. Of all the Welsh, the greatest sportsman is an unreconstructed genius called Ivon. When the chance arises to become the first Welshman to cross the great divide into England, he cannot resist. His parents, who were exiled from England before he was born, know what London will do to him. They are desperate to have him back. But London will not give up an asset like Ivon so easily. Ivon is a celebration of where sport has come from and a satire on where it is going.

It's summer vacation. Lanta Cross is sixteen and at odds with Bernadette, her adoptive mother. She'll do anything to get away from home and out from under Bernadette's considerable thumb.
Already working one part-time job at a local café, Lanta takes another at Saint Catherine's Elder Care Facility. At first it appears her duties are something she can do blindfolded -- wheeling residents to and from activities, cleaning up their messes, and mainly staying out of the way of the LVNs and the administrator, Ms. Andrews. During her first week at the home, Lanta meets and befriends an elderly lesbian resident, Gertrude Weiss. They bond quickly.
Yet not everything is what it seems at St. Catherine's.
When Gertrude's journal full of her thoughts about her late partner goes missing, the abuse begins. Gertrude's meals are late and cold. Her seemingly friendly roommate asks for a transfer to another room. As the harassment escalates, Gertrude's physical and emotional health deteriorates.
Lanta and her mother must pool their resources and work as a team to save Gertrude's life before it's too late. Will they be in time?
