Summary

The best of times and the worst of tidings: it’s Hallowe’en at the House of Werth…

Augusta Honoria Werth. Deceased October 31st, 1821.

What passes for family peace is shattered (yet again) with the arrival of Nell, and the Book of Spectres. There, written in good black ink, is the date of Gussie’s death: three days from now, on Hallowtide itself.

Not just Gussie, but all the Werths are slated, somehow, to die. With a maleficent Book as the bearer of bad news, the recalcitrant tomes must be involved; but who’s behind the boisterous books, and why have they got it in for Gussie?

With no time at all to stave off disaster, and more than the family honour on the line, the Werths must pull together in the face of their greatest crisis yet. Not such a tall order, surely?

Rejoin the worst and Wyrdest of families at the spookiest time of the year! The Werths versus inevitable doom: what could possibly go wrong? WARNING, this tale will expose you to: rambunctious revenants, garrulous ghouls, and tumultuous (and terrifying) tomes, handle with care.
Available since: 09/23/2025.
Print length: 283 pages.

An adventure story featuring thunderstorms in the background.

    The Forgotten Expedition
by Hank Wilson tells the story of a group of Spanish explorers who disappeared
from the official records. They were a product of their time. Their story
actually begins in 1598, when one of the most brutal of all of the Spanish
governors in what is now New Mexico came into power. Juan de Oñate brought in
approximately 400 settlers and built a settlement named San Juan de los
Caballeros. His real purpose was not to establish a new colony but to locate the
legendary treasure of Quivira. He started searching for the treasure in 1601,
he never did locate it and his missions to find gold and treasure were
fruitless. His legacy does, however, include perhaps the most inhumane
treatment of the Pueblo peoples in the area, and he left office in 1607 in
disgrace. He was found guilty of cruelty, immorality, and false reporting, and
he was exiled from the colony, fined, and deprived of his titles.

    This story takes place
approximately 4 years after Onate’s departure. New Mexico has a new governor, Governor
Don Pedro de Peralta. He has authorized an expedition to explore more of what
is now the Trans-Pecos region of the American Southwest. While the story is
fictional, the people’s involved all either could have or did exist during this
period. This story is built around excerpts from the journal of Fray Miguel De
La Garza as he recorded the events that took place during the group’s
    exploration of an unknown territory.

    Those who found the
journal noted the closing entry “I recorded this for the benefit of those who
are to come. I have tried to be faithful to what we saw and did. May God have
mercy on our souls. Fray Miguel De La Garza. December 1611”

This latest novel in the Bangalore Detectives Club mystery series takes the listener deep into the historical era surrounding the visit by Edward, Prince of Wales, to Bangalore in 1921. When the prince begins a tour of a number of Indian cities, he encounters passionate crowds demanding independence from Britain, with rioting on the streets of Bombay in November 1921.

The mood of the prince's subsequent trip to Bangalore and Mysore in January 1922 appears, at first glance, very different and is made to large, welcoming crowds. But perhaps all is not what it seems to be. While exploring another (seemingly unrelated) crime scene, Kaveri and Ramu become tangled in a complex web of intrigue, getting pulled into a potentially dangerous plan that could endanger the life of the visiting prince.

This new novel also takes us into the world of jadoo—Indian street magic—with sleight-of-hand magicians, snake charmers, and rope tricks. Kaveri and Ramu continue their sleuthing, with help from the Bangalore Detectives Club, amidst the growing rumblings of Indian independence and the backdrop of female emancipation.

    Patrick “Paddy” Murphy
    Secretive, Quiet, Reserved.
The mafia taught him just how disastrous secrets and lies were. Despite that, he kept the deepest, dirtiest secrets of them all. His desire for men, or rather one man—me—was only the start of them. If the family or—even worse, a rival family—found out about us, life as Paddy knew it would cease to exist.
It was as if the universe knew this and tried to keep us apart. From Army Deployments and near death experiences to a secret baby, everything that could go wrong did. I didn’t know how much more I could take, until he committed the ultimate crime.
One final act of betrayal, and he might as well have ripped my heart from my chest. There’s no going back, and he has to learn to pay the price for his mistakes.
    Michael “Griff” Griffin
    Stubborn, resentful, mine.
He had every right to hate me, to never want me again. I betrayed him, broke him, but despite all of the mistakes of my past, Griffin would always have my heart.
We went through too much pain and heartache to just give up, and I would stop at nothing to earn his love back—even if it meant putting him before my brother’s orders and refusing to marry a woman in La Famiglia—the mother of my unborn child.
The skeletons in my closet are too much to bear. Will I be able to bury them, or will my dirty laundry be aired?
