"There was a thrill in the early morning air that made everything seem possible."

Prior to the publication of Memoirs of a Fox-Hunting Man, Sassoon's reputation rested on the poetry he wrote during and about World War One, and so uncertain of the novel's reception was he that he elected to publish it anonymously.

The first book in a trilogy of semi-autobiographical novels, Memoirs tells the story of George Sherston, a fictionalised version of himself, growing up in the English countryside before the First World War. Using material taken from Sassoon's own diaries, the book follows George's gentle, privileged rural life — hunting, horses, friendships, and small social dramas — all described with warmth and wry humour. Beneath the charm, though, there's an awareness that this peaceful world is fading, and the novel ends as Sherston prepares to enter the army, signalling the end of innocence and the beginning of the war that will become the defining force in Sassoon's later writing.
Siegfried Sassoon (1886–1967) was an English poet and novelist best known for the fierce anti‑war poetry he wrote during the First World War. Born into a wealthy Kent family, he lived a quiet rural life until joining the army in 1914, where his bravery earned him the Military Cross. His wartime experiences led to his becoming one of the most powerful voices protesting the brutality and futility of the conflict and one of the defining literary figures of his generation.

The Soulful Truth: "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."A Gift for Adults: "All grown-ups were once children... but only a few of them remember it."On Responsibility and Love: "It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important."A Healing Classic: "A timeless masterpiece that heals the soul and helps us rediscover innocence in a noisy world."
The Little Prince, published in 1943 by French author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, is one of the most cherished works of literature in the world. The story begins with a narrator—a pilot—who crashes his plane in the Sahara Desert, where he encounters a young prince who has traveled from a tiny asteroid known as B-612.
Through the Prince’s journey across different planets and his interactions with a unique rose, a wise fox, and the narrator, the novella explores profound themes of loneliness, friendship, love, loss, and the meaning of life in a simple yet poetic tone. It serves as a gentle but sharp critique of the "serious" world of adults—often blinded by vanity and greed—reminding readers to cherish the invisible yet essential bonds of the heart.
