Compass-Free Navigation Tactics unveils the forgotten art of navigating by nature, blending Earth Sciences Geography with essential survival skills. Learn to find your way using the sun, stars, and subtle environmental cues. The book teaches you how to read the landscape like a map, using terrain recognition and wilderness charting to maintain your bearings, even without a compass. Imagine knowing that the prevailing wind direction can guide you or that vegetation patterns reveal hidden paths. This book explores both celestial navigation, using astronomical principles, and environmental navigation, interpreting landforms and vegetation.

Learn how to integrate diverse techniques for a cohesive navigation strategy, drawing from historical expeditions and expert observations. This approach fosters self-reliance and a deeper connection with the natural world, providing a crucial safety net when technology fails.

An absorbing and often hilarious account of the author's 12 years as closeted cabin crew for British Airways. It's a story of love, creativity and acceptance, the transformative power of lesbian love and more. Told with the wit and verve that characterised her debut novel, Karen's memoir of flying as cabin crew offers a fascinating insight into the profound impact of long-haul life. Having come out as a lesbian she is forced to go back in as colleagues advise her that it is not ok to be gay, unlike male cabin crew. Brimming with vertiginous loops and extreme globe-trotting, against a backdrop of exotic locations, hotel bars and nightclubs, Karen slowly unravels as the inability to truly be herself reverberates. This is the story of how Karen finally came into land. How she learned to look after herself and discovered her true strength. "Atmospheric and idiosyncratic, this is a memoir that entertains and emboldens" Observer

    AMERICAN IDOL
THE ULTIMATE TRIVIA AND CURIOUS FACTS COLLECTION

    CREATED BY TRIVIA HUB

American Idol is a reality singing competition created by Simon Fuller, based on the British show Pop Idol. The show aims to discover unsigned singing talent, with the winner decided by American viewers. Contestants go through a series of auditions, including initial auditions with producers, and auditions before the judges. The selected contestants then perform in Hollywood, facing eliminations until the semi-finals, when public voting determines the outcome. The show features themes for each week's performances, often with celebrity mentors. From the semi-finals onward, the fate of the contestants is decided by public vote via phone, text, and online. The show was broadcast on Fox from 2002-2016, then moved to ABC in 2018.

    CURIOUS FACT SAMPLES:

American Idol was based on the British show Pop Idol, which was in turn inspired by the New Zealand television singing competition Popstars. Television producer Nigel Lythgoe saw a version in Australia and helped bring it over to Britain.

In 2001, Simon Fuller, Simon Cowell, and TV producer Simon Jones attempted to sell the Pop Idol format to the United States, but the idea was initially met with poor responses from all the television networks. However, Rupert Murdoch, head of Fox's parent company, was later persuaded to buy the series by his daughter, Elisabeth, who had seen the British show.

One change was made to the American version because of the multiple time zones in the United States. An additional half-hour results show was added the day following the performance show because it was impractical for the country to vote in the same time period.
