Sinopsis

Kate Bush started her career at the top, the spellbinding ‘Wuthering Heights’ giving her a number one hit single with her first release. Yet from there, artistically at least, the only way has been up. For while the sales of both singles and albums over the five decades since have had their peaks and troughs, every new release has seen Bush refuse to be boxed in by past success but instead continue to take the musical chances that have characterised her career from day one.

Across ten studio albums, including director’s cut reassessments of two of them, and a live record of the 2014 Hammersmith Apollo residency, Kate Bush has constantly sought new ground, reinventing her sound time and again. She has often strayed from the commercial path of least resistance to examine the less travelled musical byways that have provided the inspiration for an extraordinary body of work - quite unlike anyone else’s.

With a string of platinum albums and hit singles to her credit, Kate’s is a fascinating journey. This book examines her entire recorded catalogue from The Kick Inside through to Before The Dawn, hoovering up all the B-sides and the rarities along the way. It’s a comprehensive guide to the extraordinary music of Kate Bush.

Bill Thomas was born in the mid-1960s, and after leaving the bright lights and romance of management accountancy behind him, he has carried on what he optimistically calls ‘a career’ in both music and football over the course of the last 30 years. Since he couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket and has concrete feet, that career has been limited to nothing more than writing about both disciplines, which is about as close as he is ever going get. He lives in Shropshire, UK.

If you're a fan of Alan Doyle, you'll love and appreciate most of the stories in this book as it serves as the backdrop for a tv series that was never meant to be. Vickie Morgan had been making films and public access tv shows for years when a broadcaster trying to spend their sports budget waltzes into St. John's, Newfoundland during the pandemic (properly masked over Zoom calls of course) and offers Vickie the gig of a lifetime.
How to Fail at Documentary Filmmaking is a hilarious and poignant story that will give you the courage and compassion necessary to understand the problem probably isn't you.
"Wow, Vickie’s determination has to be admired. She'll mow her own path, she's a trooper."
~ Tina Maddigan, author of Written in Stone
"How To Fail At Documentary Filmmaking: a novelization of the unfinished docu-series adapted from an idea for a book based on true events." ~ Josh Morgan, lives with Vickie, read the book four times

How can we interpret the work of contemporary artists? Focal Points is a new book series of essays, articles and reviews by acclaimed curator and critic Robert Storr. Expertly edited by art historian and curator Francesca Pietropaolo, and richly illustrated, it lends Storr’s illuminating insights into an artist’s practice and way of thinking across recent decades. Brilliantly scholarly, accessible and engaging, Focal Points offers fresh interpretations of the varied territory of modern and contemporary art.????Through a selection of texts spanning from 1986 to 2016, volume one brings together thirty years of Storr’s writings on American artist Bruce Nauman (b.1941) whose practice encompasses sculpture, photography, neon, drawing, printmaking and performance. Much of Nauman’s work makes use of language games and visual puns, influenced by the linguistic theories of twentieth-century thinker Ludwig Wittgenstein and by the work of writer, poet and playwright Samuel Beckett. Describing his work in 1970, Nauman said: ‘Sometimes the activity involves making something, and sometimes the activity is the piece.’

In a time where the world seems more lost and confused, it’s important that we see clearly through the veils of the illusion to the Truth of God’s Love.

Inspiring words can sometimes be a catalyst to the opening of our Heart as we seek the ‘safe place’ externally. But it’s in the KNOWING that our Safe Place is within each of us and in our connection with God. We call this; The Christ Consciousness.

These song lyrics that I’ve written are filled with the Divine Mother’s nurturing and the Holy Father’s strength while I reach out for the Peace, Joy and Love of my return to the ultimate source of that love; to finally be Home with God.

Textile Landscapes demonstrates how to develop your approach to textile art with a focus on using found objects and paint and stitch on cloth and paper.
Cas explains how to exploit the contrast between the hands-on textural quality of working with fabrics and threads and the spontaneity and movement of brush marks to lend a painterly quality to your work.

She begins with the basics – keeping a sketchbook to generate ideas, painting  and stitching on cloth and on paper and working digitally; Inspiring Landscapes looks at natural and urban space, the changing seasons and great landscapes as well as intimate spaces and travel diaries; Painting and Marking with Cloth explains the practical aspects of painting and dyeing cloth and how to make connections between paint, print, dye, stencil and stitch; Stitch-scapes looks at the different forms of landscape, experimenting with photographs and prints and how to translate those images using ink, stitch, abstract and collage techniques and then at how to transform the image using digital techniques; On Closer Inspection covers using elements and details from landscape and the environment as found objects and for research; finally People and Place explores the relationship we have with the outdoors and the built environment, as well as personal interpretations of place.

The book includes artworks by the author that explore the UK, USA, Europe and Australia, as well as works by other internationally renowned textile artists. A creative guide ideal for textile artists of all levels – students, teachers and practising artists and makers – to make unique and beautiful work inspired by the world around us.
