Born in the Marshalsea Prison for Debtors, Amy—Little Dorrit—the daughter of the ruined, but self-respectful William Dorrit, has put her entire heart into caring for her dear father until one day her humble path is crossed by Arthur Clennam. Their meeting proves providential not only for Amy's life but for the whole Dorrit family, whose new rise will, in many ways, be also their fall. As in all his novels, in "Little Dorrit" Dickens ushers us into a fascinating and startlingly rich world of human characters and destinies, where virtue and nobility cross swords with vice and villainy, where strength and weakness intertwine with prejudice and magnanimity and where the author's inspired pen wields a compelling and unforgettable power over the readers.

Charles Dickens is the British writer most associated with England's 19th-century Victorian era and is one of the fathers of the modern novel. Dickens was born into a family that was relatively well off, and lived the bulk of his childhood in London. Much of his youth was spent outdoors, reading and observing the people that came and went in his young life. Many of these observations would form the basis of his beloved and unique gift for characterization. Starting as a journalist after a brief stint as a law clerk, Dickens began traveling the UK writing about elections. Soon he wrote his first novel, "The Pickwick Papers", and the wild success of the book immediately propelled him into an immediate writing career. His most famous titles are "Great Expectations", "David Copperfield", "Oliver Twist" and "A Christmas Carol" among others. Dickens's novels are known for their social commentary and hard criticism of poverty. He was against the stark divide between the rich and the poor in Victorian society, and while his tales were invariably entertaining, they also came laced with the acid tongue of a social satirist.

In FIVE TIMES LUCKY, an intrepid traveler gets more than her share of tabloid celebrity. Who hasn’t wondered what life was like inside the velvet rope of the Hollywood in-crowd? In this fast-moving comedy the quest for fame has no boundaries...but celebrity has its downside. We follow ex-actress BunnyLee Welles, who returns to Los Angeles for her best friend’s wedding and finds that she is instantly recognizable. From the customs officer to the baggage clerk to the Lyft driver, everyone knows her single-dimple smile. They mimic her. They take selfies with her. They hand her unsolicited film scripts. In the four years she has been traveling abroad, her sole commercial role for Dial-a-Denture has recently become an online meme. Like it or not, BunnyLee is now famous.
It seems like everyone BunnyLee crosses paths with is seeking to exploit her notoriety. An old boyfriend from college is using material gleaned from their relationship to further his stand-up career. Another college acquaintance, a burgeoning local TV news reporter, trades on her friendship with BunnyLee for a scoop on the evening news. BunnyLee seeks shelter in the rambling estate of an aging Hollywood heartthrob whose own career has been derailed by a years-old altercation with Kermit the Frog on Sesame Street. He can relate to BunnyLee’s plight as others in his sphere—a duplicitous chauffeur, a social-climbing cook—vie for a piece of his fame. But as much as BunnyLee strives to keep things platonic, romance is a snake lurking in the underbrush. BunnyLee borrows Buck’s vintage Mustang and hits the road with her new puppy on what begins an odyssey through a culturally conflicted modern-day America. Along the way, car trouble leads to her rescue by an injured professional wrestler whose career is a cautionary tale about trading everything meaningful in life for the chance to bask in the limelight of fame.

Former LAPD detective Mike Travis returns in a novel of sex, drugs, rock and roll—and murder—from the award-winning author of Roadhouse Blues.

The mystery has fascinated the music industry since 1977—the year when some tapes went missing from the Stone Blossoms' final recording session for one of the most anticipated rock albums of all time. The band's charismatic leader committed suicide on the same day.

Retired cop Mike Travis learns about the puzzling history in the worst way possible. After sailing from Catalina to his family's old beach house in Kona, Hawaii, he discovers there's been a bloodbath. Five victims have been murdered, including his childhood friend's wife and a former Stone Blossoms guitarist, Danny Webb. And when his friend is suspected of going on a jealous rampage, it's up to Travis to prove his innocence.

Turns out Webb was involved in a multi-million-dollar deal—providing he could produce the lost tapes. Travis knows just how toxic greed can be, but even he's not prepared for the violence to come . . . and just how close to home it will hit.
