Thank you for your interest in the audiocourse Italian for pre-intermediate_Part 01 by Audioacademyeu. The course is deigned for slightly advanced learners who have already studied Italian for one or two years and have mastered the basics. The course is based on contextual learning, which means that you will not only learn words, but also sentences in which you can use the words you have learned. Because of its size, the course is divided into two parts. You are now reading the introduction to the first part. In total, you will find 3000 words and practice sentences in this course. What is the best way to work with the course? Choose the lesson you want to start with. Each lesson contains six tracks. First, familiarize yourself with the actual vocabulary (tracks 1 and 2). In order to get a better grip over the new expressions in Italian, in track one you hear the Italian word twice. Next, you have a word followed by a contextual sentence, again in both translation options (tracks 3 and 4). Then you move on to complete sentences (tracks 5 and 6). ). Again, in track 5, you will hear the sentence in Italian twice Once you have mastered translating sentences from English into Italian (lesson 6) in the time gap before the English translation, you have won. The words alone will help you in understanding the meaning, but using the mastered complete sentences will help you communicate much better. There is a script to this course available for free download at www.audioacademyeu.eu which will make your activities with the course much more effective. In its introduction, you will find a learning guide along with helpful tips on how to make the lessons more effective and a lesson plan for you to record your learning progress. The script is divided thematically into three parts. In the first part you will find a written version of the audio tracks you will listen to. In the second part you will find the writing tests. For each lesson there is one test of vocabulary and one test of sentences. The key to both tests is available right after the tests too In the third part of the script you will find double-sided flashcards that you can cut out with scissors and practice even when you can't or don't want to listen. The course is narrated by native speakers - Jeff Short in English and Elisa Ciravegna and Matteo Bianchi in Italian.Lesson 001 Activities 01Lesson 002 Activities 02Lesson 003 LivingLesson 004 Travelling 01Lesson 005 Travelling 02Lesson 006 DayLesson 007 FoodLesson 008 Communication 1Lesson 009 Communication 2Lesson 010 Communication 3Lesson 011 City

  • The Just-World Hypothesis - Believing That People Get What They Deserve - cover

    The Just-World Hypothesis -...

The Just-World Hypothesis is a psychological concept that suggests people have a deep-seated belief that the world is inherently fair, where individuals get what they deserve. This belief leads people to assume that good things happen to good people, and bad things happen to bad people. It is a cognitive bias that serves as a mechanism for reducing feelings of anxiety or uncertainty about the randomness and chaos of the world. This belief in a just world helps individuals to feel more in control of their lives and less vulnerable to the uncertainties of the world around them.
The hypothesis was first proposed by psychologist Melvin Lerner in the 1960s, and it has since been widely studied in the fields of psychology and sociology. Lerner’s research showed that people often justify the suffering of others by believing that those who experience hardship or injustice must have somehow deserved it. For example, when people see others suffering, they may reason that the victims must have done something to bring the suffering upon themselves, whether through their actions, choices, or inherent characteristics. This allows people to maintain their belief in a just world, as it provides a sense of order and predictability in what might otherwise seem to be a random and unfair world.
One of the primary psychological functions of the Just-World Hypothesis is to reduce feelings of powerlessness. When individuals can attribute suffering to a victim's behavior or actions, they can distance themselves from the fear of experiencing similar fates. This belief offers a form of psychological protection, assuring people that they can avoid misfortune by adhering to social norms, behaving morally, and making the right choices. As a result, individuals may experience less anxiety about the unpredictability of life, as they can convince themselves that misfortune is not random, but rather a consequence of personal shortcomings or wrongdoings.
