Summary

At the edge of an endless desert, young Elorin encounters a caravan of pilgrims devoted to the Golden Dawn—a sunrise ceremony said to bring courage and compassion. Captivated, he joins healer Mirella and musician Thaelon as they traverse amber dunes, share sunbound songs, and bake dawn bread. Along the way, they hear tales of miraculous events: a lost child guided home by radiant morning light, a parched land revived by dew, and hearts mended through shared blessings. When a sudden sandstorm separates Elorin from the group, he clings to their stories and, guided by the dawn’s promise, discovers that every new day holds its own miracle.

Three novellas that brilliantly portray English country and clergy life at the turn of the nineteenth century from the author of Middlemarch.   Initially appearing in Blackwood’s Magazine, this trio of linked stories comprises George Eliot’s first published work. Together they form a portrait of small-town life in Midlands, England, where changes are affecting both society at large and religious beliefs and institutions.   In “The Sad Fortunes of Reverend Amos Barton,” the clergyman struggles to raise funds for church repairs and perform his parochial duties, while a target of gossip—both good and bad. Meanwhile, few in Shepperton can find fault with his shy and hardworking wife, who cares for their six children, stretching Barton’s meager salary—and herself—to the limit.   Set before the arrival of Amos Barton, “Mr. Gilfil’s Love Story” features well-liked parish priest Maynard Gifil, who is known for smoking long pipes and preaching short sermons. Shockingly tumultuous events lead up to his marriage—including a love triangle, deception, and a murder plot.   An argument over religious doctrine splits the market town of Milby into two factions in “Janet’s Repentance.” With the arrival of Reverend Tryan, a rumor spreads that Evangelicalism has invaded the parish, angering local lawyer Robert Dempster. But his long-suffering wife finds in Tryan a kindred spirit, leading her to embark on a new life.  “The exquisite truth and delicacy, both of the humour and the pathos of those stories, I have never seen the like of.” —Charles Dickens “A first-rate novel, and its author takes rank at once among the masters of the art.” —The Times

    What's your name?

Asian Americans know the pain of being called names that deny our humanity. We may toggle back and forth between different names as a survival strategy. But it's a challenge to discern what names reflect our true identities as Asian Americans and as Christians. In an era when Asians face ongoing discrimination and marginalization, it can be hard to live into God's calling for our lives.

Asian American Christians need to hear and own our diverse stories beyond the cultural expectations of the model minority or perpetual foreigner. A team from East Asian, Southeast Asian, and South Asian backgrounds explores what it means to learn our names and be seen by God. They encourage us to know our history, telling diverse stories of the Asian diaspora in America who have been shaped and misshaped by migration, culture, and faith. As we live in the multiple tensions of being Asian American Christians, we can discover who we are and what God may have in store for us and our communities.

"Eden Insights — The Lost Books of Adam and Eve" is the sixth of S.N. Strutt's unique Insights books. As an author and Apocrypha investigator, Strutt has handled this collection of ancient, pre-Flood writings, events, testimonies and accounts with exceptional discernment and Scriptural sensitivity. This book brings out the astounding knowledge and shocking dynamic details as to how emotional it was for Adam and Eve — physically and spiritually — to have to leave the Garden of Eden, where they had personal interaction with God the Father and Jesus the Word, and be thrust out into the physical world due to their disobedience. These insights clearly show what life was like in the almost 1,600 years leading up to the biblical Great Flood of Noah, and reveal numerous answers to questions that many of us may have as we see the world today careening on its downward course! — And promises that God's Own will be rescued again!Order "Eden's Insights" at Stephen's website: www.outofthebottomlesspit.co.ukListen to the full audiobook of "The First and Second Books of Adam and Eve" on this channel: https://youtu.be/Uj1oPPLNhdA
