Summary

For demure young and beautiful Daniela Brooke it had been bad enough to find out that her much-loved late father, Lord Seabrooke, had been tricked into marriage by the use of drugs by a disreputable Parisian courtesan called Esmé Blanc. It was even worse to discover just four weeks after her father’s death that her scheming stepmother is trying to arrange a marriage in the German spa resort of Baden-Baden between Daniela and her penniless lover for her own nefarious and greedy purposes, as Lord Seabrooke has left all his money and estates to Daniela and most definitely not to Esmé Blanc. Although guarded by day and night by her stepmother, in desperation Daniela manages to meet the Marquis of Crowle secretly in the garden of the Baden-Baden casino and begs him to help her escape as soon as possible from her perilous predicament. Overcome with sympathy at her story, the Marquis arranges to whisk her away from the Church at the very last minute before she is married and they sail off back to England in his magnificent yacht, The Sea Horse, down the River Rhine to freedom with Daniela’s wicked stepmother in hot pursuit. Will the distraught Daniela find the freedom she yearns for from her grasping stepmother? And even then can it be possible that she will ever find the sublime love that she has always dreamed about?

"I am no witch, nor adulteress, thief, nor murderer. They say I have lost my reason, but I know only that my heart is shattered, and in crying it aloud, now I must pay the cost . . . "

After three grievous losses, Puritan woman Silence Marsh dares to question God aloud in the church, and that blasphemy lands her in trouble—she is silenced for a year by the powers that be. Broken in heart and spirit, Silence learns to mime and sign, but it isn't until a new Boston doctor, the dashing Daniel Greenleaf, comes to her backward Cape Cod village that she begins to hope again. Rather than treating Silence with bleeding or leeches, Dr. Greenleaf prescribes fresh air, St. John's Wort, long walks—and reading.

Silence has half a hope of getting through her year of punishment when the cry of witchcraft poisons the village. Colonial Massachusetts is still reeling from the Salem Witch Trials just twenty years before. Now, after demanding her silence, she is called to witness at a witchcraft trial—or be accused herself.

A whiff of sulfur and witchcraft shadows this literary Puritan tale of loss and redemption, based on the author's own ancestor, her seventh great-grandmother.

In seventy-two hours, a blockbuster exposé will reveal Victoria Stevens's multibillion-dollar startup as a massive fraud. And Victoria has gone missing. Has she faked her death, leaving her husband, Guy Sarvananthan, to face the fallout—and potential jail time? Should Guy flee to his native Sri Lanka, an outcast and a failure? Or embrace denial? Opting for the latter, he takes the corporate jet to a private Caribbean island, where the 0.0001% have gathered to decide which one of the world's biggest problems to "eradicate forever." Guy drinks and drugs his way into oblivion, through manicured jungles and aboard superyachts, amid captains of industry, legions of staff, and unlikely saboteurs.

Meanwhile, Victoria narrates her side of the story from an off-the-grid location in the California desert. In scribbled diary entries shot through with cultish self-help mantras, she plots her comeback, confident she'll prove everyone wrong. Again.

Warning: Explicit Content. Tom Porter knows that his wife Mindy’s decision to call in sick is a bad idea—a very bad idea. You don’t fool around with a mega-company like Sanitas Pharmaceuticals or a ruthless CEO like Miles Copeland. This big, beefy, black billionaire is not one to play games with…and if he ever finds out that Mindy isn’t at all sick, well, she can just kiss her high-paying job goodbye.

Not that Mindy means any harm. She just wants to take a fun-day once in a while. In fact, the minute Tom comes out of the shower early the next morning, she’s all over him, wanting to start her fun-day in the most fun way she can.

Tom’s warm, naked body. Mindy’s slinky sundress. Loud, sexy music blaring. What could be more fun than that? Alas, her timing is off. This is tax season, and accountant Tom is up to his ears in tax returns. He’ll have to take a raincheck—leaving his hot, horny wife more than a little frustrated.
Ironically, Tom’s timing is off as well. Not a minute after he says no to her advances, Miles Copeland arrives at their door. He has come to see if Mindy really is sick.

Well, she sure doesn’t look it! That slinky sundress. That loud, sexy music. Mindy’s hips swaying to the beat just as she opens the door. Miles is furious. Sick, eh? Well, he’ll see about that! He orders her into the bedroom, where he orders her to get everything off. Then, he proceeds to give her a very thorough, very intimate, and, as far as Tom is concerned, a very arousing medical exam right on their bed!

Wait a minute…arousing? Tom is aroused seeing another man with his hands all over his naked wife? What’s going on here? He’s angry, for God’s sake. He’s out of his mind with jealousy. And he is more than intimidated by this handsome billionaire’s manly charms—charms that Mindy is more than intrigued by. How could he possibly be aroused by this?
