  The summary of this fifth book in the series is as follows: 
  The Girl Brownies prepare to perform their lantern adventure at Ashdown's first post-war Peace Festival. When their prized replica lantern disappears hours before the show, they spring into action - following muddy footprints (child-sized!), interrogating the village prankster, and ultimately discovering the lantern was mistakenly taken by historian Mr. Finch for his exhibit. After retrieving it, their performance becomes the festival highlight, blending storytelling with their real-life mystery-solving. 
  The adventure continues when Mr. Finch invites them to examine his museum's authentic lantern collection, hinting at future discoveries. Through the festival's celebrations, the girls witness their community healing from war while cementing their reputation as Ashdown's cleverest young detectives. 
  The initial opening credit music, “Joyful Journey”, which does run to approximately 2 minutes sets the scene, so to speak, recorder, tambourine,guitar and accordion in a folk/classical and cheerful mood. The closing music, “Bloom”, ends the tale on with more of the same at about 2 minutes and the same musical instruments etc. but more of an ending feel.  
  The story and music itself runs to just about 14 minutes and is narrated in my wife's voice, Claire, who actually was a ranger guide!

I couldn't see them but I could hear them bugling down there in the cedar thickets. Baying slowly and mournfully, they were searching for the lost trail. A creek ran down the middle of the valley. Probably Tommy Sonofagun had crossed the creek and thrown the bloodhounds off his trail. Tommy might be a moron but he had enough animal cunning to lose a pack of hounds that were after him. 
  His name wasn't really Tommy Sonofagun. It was Tommy Britten, but the loafers around Brock's Tavern had taught him to say that his name was Tommy Sonofagun. They thought this was funny. 
  The sheriff and I watched the two deputies tramp down into Ten Mile Valley, but we lost sight of them before they reached the farther ridge. The steel towers of an electric high-line ran along this ridge for a couple of miles, then dipped down and crossed the valley. The transmission line carried current from the big dam about twenty miles to the north. When the war first started, there was some fear that enemy agents might sabotage this high-line and the sheriff had spent most of his time out in the hills guarding it.
