Summary

The Anabasis of Alexander was composed by Arrian of Nicomedia in the second century AD, most probably during the reign of Hadrian. The Anabasis (which survives complete in seven books) is a history of the campaigns of Alexander the Great, specifically his conquest of the Persian Empire between 336 and 323 BC.Both the unusual title "Anabasis" (literally "a journey up-country from the sea") and the work's seven-book structure reflect Arrian's emulation (in structure, style, and content) of the Greek historian Xenophon, whose own Anabasis in seven books concerned the earlier campaign "up-country" of Cyrus the Younger in 401 BC.Arrian of Nicomedia  (c. 86/89 – c. after 146/160 AD) was a Greek historian, public servant, military commander, and philosopher of the Roman period.

The commando racing to Pegasus Bridge. The Typhoon pilot who is about to be shot by the SS when he is saved by a Luftwaffe officer. The injured tank driver who risks his life to save five other crews. The German soldier haunted by the fact he was forced to abandon his dying friend. In D-Day The Unheard Tapes Geraint Jones has skilfully brought the battle for Normandy to life in a vivid narrative that allows the voices of those who fought to shine through, authentic and unforgettable.

Like the resilient Harendong plant that thrives on ancestral lands, drawing sustenance from Gusti nu Luhur yet flourishing under careful human tending, this theory underscores that ultimate well-being is found in a delicate, active balance between divine provision and responsible human action. The “Harendong Theory” appears in Andi Sulistiadi’s research, specifically in his 2023 study titled “Holistic Management of the Leadership of Pu’un Badui Tribe” (document ID: 7040 in the RGSA repository). The paper introduces the concept using the Harendong plant as a visual metaphor reflection
May the lessons of Harendong Theory inspire leaders, communities, and individuals across the globe to cultivate their own unique ecosystems of peace, joy, and sustainability. May we learn to honor our interconnectedness, foster unwavering commitment to our deepest values, and bravely navigate the mists of uncertainty with the same steadfast spirit found in the ancient woods of the Baduy. For in embracing the Harendong Way, we begin to chart a course towards a future not just of survival, but of profound, enduring flourishing, perpetually seeking to “bersemayam bersama Gusti nu Luhur.”
