Sinopse

Nikola Tesla was the greatest dream creator of the 20th century but, at the same time, he remained a genius forgotten by history. In his multifaceted career he has silently revolutionized our era by giving us one-of-a-kind inventions and discoveries. Mauro Paoletti's text not only retraces its history and chimerical discoveries but sheds new light on certain aspects that until today were almost completely unknown to the general public. Few know that Tesla gave birth to his most ingenious creations after meeting a master Indian who totally changed his life as he witnessed a unique event when he picked up intelligent signals, not of human origin, coming from space. He was the inventor of the radio, even if the first signal was sent by Marconi using his patents ( seventeen, writes Tesla himself). could be transferred wirelessly. The scope of this genius can never be fully understood but, undoubtedly, his creativity and imagination gave shape and substance to the dreams and expectations of the 20th century.

A clear, concise primer on the GDPRThe GDPR aims to unify data protection and ease the flow of personal data across the EU. It applies to every organisation in the world that handles EU residents' personal data. While the GDPR is not law in countries outside the EU, it is effectively part of the legislative environment for organisations that do business with the EU. This is enforced through a combination of international trade law and business pressure – after all, a partner in the EU is unlikely to want to risk engaging with a company in the US, Australia or Singapore (or anywhere else) that will put them at risk.EU GDPR – An international guide to compliance is the ideal resource for anyone wanting a clear primer on the principles of data protection and their obligations under the GDPR.A concise pocket guide, it will help you understand:- The terms and definitions used in the GDPR, including explanations;- The key requirements of the GDPR, including:- Which fines apply to which Articles;- The principles that should be applied to any collection and processing of personal data;- The Regulation's applicability;- Data subjects' rights;- Data protection impact assessments;- The data protection officer role and whether you need one;- Data breaches, and notifying supervisory authorities and data subjects; and- Obligations for international data transfers.- How to comply with the Regulation, including:- Understanding your data, and where and how it is used (e.g. Cloud suppliers, physical records);- The documentation you must maintain (such as statements of the information you collect and process, records of data subject consent, processes for protecting personal data); and- The "appropriate technical and organisational measures" you need to take to ensure compliance with the Regulation.- A full index of the Regulation, enabling you to find relevant Articles quickly and easily.Supplemental material While most of the EU GDPR's requirements are broadly unchanged in the UK GDPR, the context is quite different and will have knock-on effects. You may need to update contracts regarding EU–UK data transfers, incorporate standard contractual clauses into existing agreements, and update your policies, processes and procedural documentation as a result of these changes.  We have published a supplement that sets out specific extra or amended information for this pocket guide. Click here to download the supplement. About the authorAlan Calder is the Group CEO of GRC International Group plc, the AIM-listed company that owns IT Governance Ltd. Dark matter is one of the greatest mysteries in modern science. Despite being invisible and undetectable by traditional means, it makes up approximately 27% of the universe’s total mass and energy. It does not emit, absorb, or reflect light, making it completely transparent to current observational instruments. However, scientists are certain of its existence due to its gravitational effects on visible matter, radiation, and the large-scale structure of the universe. Its discovery has led to a major shift in our understanding of the cosmos, revealing that most of the universe’s matter remains hidden from our view.
The term "dark matter" was first introduced in the early 20th century, but it wasn’t until the 1970s that astronomers began to recognize its significant role in the universe. In 1933, Swiss astronomer Fritz Zwicky observed the motion of galaxies within clusters and noted that the amount of visible matter in these clusters was insufficient to account for their observed gravitational effects. This led him to propose the existence of an unseen form of matter, which he referred to as "dark matter." Over the following decades, similar observations were made by astronomers studying the rotation of individual galaxies. The rotation speeds of galaxies were found to be much higher than what could be explained by the visible matter in the galaxies. This discrepancy suggested that there was additional, unseen matter providing extra gravitational pull, keeping the galaxies intact and preventing them from flying apart.
Dark matter does not interact with light or other forms of electromagnetic radiation, which is why it cannot be directly observed. It’s not made up of the usual atoms and particles that constitute the familiar matter we see in everyday life. Instead, it seems to consist of particles that do not interact with electromagnetic forces, which is why they are invisible.

    "Look at the birds"
Through the painful days of the pandemic stuck in her home, Courtney Ellis found herself looking down in despair. Soon after, her beloved grandfather died unexpectedly.
It was around this same time that Ellis took up watching birds. "Took up" might not be exactly right—as she puts it, "the switch flipped," and she's been borderline obsessed with birds ever since.
Looking Up is a meditation on birding as a practice of hope. Weaving together stories from her own life, including the death of her grandfather, with reflections on birds of many kinds, Ellis invites us to open our eyes to the goodness of God both in the natural world and in our own lives. By "looking up" to the birds, Ellis found the beauty and wonder of these creatures calling her out of her darkness into the light and hope of God's promises.
