Summary

WHILE I was engaged in writing the following brief work, again and again the question arose in my mind, Can I make subjects so deep and difficult really interesting and intelligible to the young? The importance of reading Old Testament types in the light thrown on them by the Gospel cannot, indeed, be overrated, especially in these perilous times; but can a child be taught thus to read them? The attempt thus to teach is made in the following pages; and I would earnestly request parents and teachers not merely to place the little volume in the hands of children as a prettily-illustrated story-book, but to read it with them, prepared to answer questions and to solve difficulties. Sun-day books should supplement, not take the place of, oral instruction. A writer may give earnest thought and labor to the endeavor to make religious subjects interesting to the young; but what influence has the silent page compared with that of a father expressing his own settled convictions, or that of a mother who has the power to speak at once to the head and the heart?"YOU have no right to spoil my desk, you tiresome, mischievous boy!Ive not spoilt it, Agnes; Ive only ornamented it by carving that little pattern all round.I dont call that carving, nor ornamenting neither! cried Agnes, in an angry voice; youve nicked it all round with your knife, youve spoilt my nice little desk, and Ill What threat Agnes might have added remains unknown, for her sentence was broken by a violent fit of coughing, whoop after whoopa fit partly brought on by her passion. What is all this, my children? asked Mrs. Temple, drawn into the room called the study by the noise of the quarrel between her son and her eldest daughter.Lucius, a boy more than twelve years of age, and there-fore a great deal too old to have made so foolish a use of his knife, stood with a vexed expression on his face, looking at his poor sister, who, in the violence of her distressing cough, had to grasp the table to keep herself from falling; Amy, her kind younger sister had run to support her; while Dora and little Elsie, who had both the same complaint, though in a milder form than their sister, coughed with her in chorus.."

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice.
In this fifth installment of The Clockmaker of Dreams series, Lina, Kevin, and their loyal dog Rex welcome New Year’s Eve the way they always do, waiting for the familiar knock, the golden feather, and the ladder from the moon. But when the feather arrives cold and blue, and the Dreamworld’s magic falls silent, the children discover that something is terribly wrong. Their gentle guide, the Clockmaker, is no longer the bright guardian they know, and dream clocks that once glowed with warmth now hang frozen in the sky. With no map, no lantern, and no promise of safety, Lina and her friends must climb the moon ladder and follow a fading compass into a world of sleeping dreams, where fear spreads like winter and hope feels small. Through mysterious encounters with other children and the quiet courage of friendship, Lina learns that some journeys are not about bravery at all, but about kindness, compassion, and the simple strength of standing together. The Clockmaker of New Year’s Eve Dreams: The Night Lina and the Gang Melted the Ice is a magical, heartfelt adventure that invites young listeners to believe in love over fear, and reminds parents that even the coldest nights can thaw when children share their light.

Amid the woolen mill shadows of Threadhaven, where knitters loop riddles into yarn and wool merchants bargain with threads of the unknown, knitter Lila tangles a clue with merchant Garrick, whose deals conceal a pattern of pilfered designs. Their yarn, looped in thread vows and bargain-kissed needles, untangles truth—or snarls in woolen knots of deceit. As they unravel through shadow-laced looms and clue-bound spools, tangled by yarn wardens and pattern rivals, Lila's knitting craft merges with Garrick's merchant cunning, unveiling a woolen legend of knitted revelation. When a snagged thread summons moth illusions, they must loop the clue to weave the end. In the riddle of knitted yarns, where every loop hints at solution and every bargain reveals a twist, their soft mystery becomes the pattern that binds the mill's secrets.

Welcome to The Confident Ummah, Adab Series. We were inspired to create books for our children and ummah so they can refer to them throughout their early years and better themselves as Muslims.
The first 10 years of a child's life are the most impressionable. This is when their foundations are formed and so it is the best time to encourage positive traits, so they are equipped with the tools to live healthy and balanced lives through which they worship and serve Allah.
Each storybook has been designed to focus on a main principle, followed by related Qur'an/Hadith quotes. The moral of the story section highlights the core lessons from the storybook. Finally, we have included an activity page which is designed to encourage your child to implement the story's lessons.
Our stories are based on questions our children ask us and scenarios we have come across in our daily lives whilst homeschooling them.
