Summary

Who is Vidor Kiraly, and what is he hiding?
Following a violent outburst at an awards ceremony, Vidor, a prize-winning neuroscientist and Cambridge don, is sent to an isolated psychiatric clinic in the Swiss Alps.
Vidor claims to have no memory of the incident as the director of the clinic, Dr Anton Gessen, tries to unearth the reason behind his erratic behaviour. After one of Gessen’s other patients goes missing, Gessen has reason to doubt Vidor’s innocence.
To complicate matters, Gessen is certain he has met Vidor before.
Can he piece everything together before it’s too late?

MAHU FIRE, the third Mahu Investigation from Lambda Award finalist Neil S. Plakcy, begins as openly gay Honolulu homicide detective Kimo Kanapa’aka attends a local charity event in support of gay marriage. When a bomb disrupts the gala, Kimo, his family and friends are thrust into a deadly contest between the forces of good and evil.
A wave of religious fundamentalism sweeps through O’ahu, at the same time as violence against gay and lesbian-owned businesses is on the rise. Coincidence? Kimo doesn’t think so. Working with hunky fire inspector Mike Riccardi – day and night – Kimo digs through the ashes to discover a motive for the attacks, as well as who is behind them.
MAHU FIRE showcases a handsome, sexy hero who struggles to overcome personal troubles and makes private sacrifices for the public good. Throw in an exotic tropical locale, plenty of aloha spirit and a dash of surf culture, as well as a slam-bang ending that puts Kimo and the people he cares about in danger, and you’ve got the makings of a page-turning mystery.
Plakcy has won the Left Coast Crime award for best police procedural, and been a four-time finalist for the Lambda Literary Award. Perfect for fans of Joseph Hansen, Michael Nava, and John Morgan Wilson.

A lovely little spot for murder!

Not much happens in Biddle Rhyne, a quiet, picturesque village in the southwest of England. Especially if you don't count the meat raffle on a Thursday night and the odd sheep escaping a field.

However, that's all set to change when Julia Ford, a normal(ish) twenty-something who works in the local pub, stumbles upon a murder victim.

Upsetting, but not the end of the world. Particularly as the victim is Audrey White, the cantankerous owner of a nearby garden center.

But when the police discover Julia had argued with the woman in the past, and her fingerprints are found on a death threat, she is accused of the crime, and her life is turned upside down.

Released on police bail and encumbered with an unfetching ankle tag, Julia will have to clear her own name.

Yet the murderer is intent that she takes the fall. Will Julia land on her feet?

“Once again, Jenifer Ruff delivers a heart-pumping thriller! The well-crafted twists surrounding this medical mystery will keep you guessing until the end.” – Audrey J. Cole – USA Today bestselling author
A tsunami strikes a small island in the Pacific Ocean, leaving destruction and madness in its wake.
After the natural disaster, CDC epidemiologist Dr. Madeline Hamilton and her fiancé, FBI operative Quinn Traynor, go to Nalowale Island to investigate a deadly outbreak of unknown origin. Victims become aggressive and irrational, suffering from insomnia, hallucinations, and eventual death.
But not everyone cooperates with the agents’ efforts to save lives. Devon Wheeler’s fortune depends on completing construction of the Azure Cove Resort. He’s hiding something, and he’ll do whatever it takes to open the luxury complex on time, even if it means concealing critical information related to the outbreak.
When all communications to and from the island shut down and the wave of illness climbs toward a calamitous crash, Madeline uncovers something terrifying…and impossible.
Under quarantine conditions and without the help of modern equipment, Madeline and Quinn must make sense of the bizarre outbreak. The investigation requires huge leaps of faith and significant acts of courage. What they discover and what they take home with them will change lives forever.

In this harrowing account of the aftermath of a tsunami, Jenifer Ruff takes you to ground zero of the disaster’s mighty power, wrapping it with a haunting mystery. I loved every minute of it.”—Timothy Browne - USA Today bestselling author
