Sinopsis

"Women In Politics" explores the historical underrepresentation of women in politics and examines the impact of their presence on policy and governance. It addresses the critical need for understanding women's evolving role, emphasizing that representative democracy requires all voices. The book highlights that women's perspectives often differ from those of their male counterparts, particularly on issues like healthcare and social justice. It also explores the challenges women face, such as gender bias and unequal access to campaign funding.

The book begins by establishing a historical foundation through the evolution of women's suffrage movements. It then transitions to a contemporary analysis of the challenges women still face. Case studies from diverse regions around the world highlight struggles and successes of women in different political systems. The book argues that greater female representation leads to more inclusive policies and improved societal outcomes, focusing on the diverse perspectives women bring to decision-making. It examines the impact of women in politics on policy outcomes, focusing on examples of how female leadership has influenced legislation in areas such as environmental policy, education, and human rights.

Together is better, but only if you turn up and lean in.
High performing teams are teams in synergy - where the whole is greater than the sum
    of its parts.
This is especially important for directors and leadership teams who face unprecedented
market dynamics. Their individual and organisational success depends on their capacity
to form bonds of trust that allow them to show up, have courage, welcome open dissent,
and explore new solutions to adaptive challenges.
In this book, high performance leadership coach Stephanie Bown explores team synergy
as the intersection between independent thinking and collective capacity with the goal
of amplifying the potential for great people to come together to achieve amazing things.

Pandemics, massive earthquakes, war, and other catastrophes inspire immediate action because their casualties and destruction are immediately visible. Climate change is an unyielding problem because its long-range dangers are hidden, and thus it is a global risk unlike anything in human experience

The federal government recently announced aggressive climate targets for Canada. We have committed to producing net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, which will require major changes for our economy and way of life. Canadian citizens need to understand why our most distinguished climate scientists and our senior political leaders think that we must meet this target. Canada and Climate Change explains the importance of policies that will ensure we meet the net-zero emissions target. William Leiss provides a firm grasp on what climate change is and how scientists have described shifts in the earth’s climate as they have occurred over hundreds of millions of years and as they are likely to occur in the near future, especially by the end of this century.

Leiss argues that citizens have a right to place their trust in what climate scientists tell us. Canada and Climate Change is an essential primer on where we stand on the issue of climate change in Canada and what will unfold in the years ahead.

These stories tell us how babies, from birth, have this skill to test by themselves the quality of the connections of the human network that surrounds them and to choose their first emotional attachments according to the quality of the signals received in return—without worrying about their filiation or their biological reality. A shock! They reveal to us through this unheard-of skill what is human in a person and how the little person becomes human. A new and modern vision of the human baby. These babies show us the intense efforts they make, from the moment they are born, to relate and to be kind, to make themselves light in the arms that carry them, to exist in the brains they cram into to ensure their safety and to “download” the knowledge of the world they need to survive. Babies very actively adapt to their new life as earthlings through the “Wi-Fi connections” they make in the first few minutes of their lives.
The author concludes his book with a call to consider the reality of the psychic suffering of abused babies. Twenty-five years ago, the medical world finally discovered that babies could feel physical pain, which has since been recognized and treated. Before that, they were operated on without any anesthesia. From today's perspective, this is barbaric. It is urgent to make the same intellectual revolution for the psychological pain and emotional distress of the infant, which is detectable and curable if we know how to spot the signs from birth. The psychological future of thousands of babies every year depends on it. Let's save human babies!

Of all the great cities in the world, few personify their country like New York City. As America’s largest city and best known immigration gateway into the country, the Big Apple represents the beauty, diversity and sheer strength of the United States, a global financial center that has enticed people chasing the “American Dream” for centuries.
As such, it’s only fitting that Madison Square Garden, the stadium that bills itself as the world’s most famous arena, resides in the heart of Manhattan. Just blocks away from the Empire State Building and situated atop Penn Station, the Garden is always bustling, whether it’s for special events or as the home of the NBA’s New York Knicks and NHL’s New York Rangers, and all the while, performing in the Garden has been a career benchmark for artists as varied as Elvis Presley, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, and Michael Jackson. As Billie Joel put it, “Madison Square Garden is the center of the universe as far as I'm concerned. It has the best acoustics, the best audiences, the best reputation, and the best history of great artists who have played there. It is the iconic, holy temple of Rock and Roll for most touring acts and, being a New Yorker, it holds a special significance to me.”
The Garden is now nearly 50 years old, making it one of the oldest sporting venues used in professional sports, but the current arena was not the first Madison Square Garden, and the area has a history as an entertainment center dating back to the 19th century. Ironically, its location on the less crowded fringes of Manhattan in the 19th century helped establish it as a place for hucksters like P.T. Barnum to hold events. In fact, a previous Garden was one of New York City’s tallest buildings in the early 20th century, and it was bankrolled by business titans like J.P. Morgan and Andrew Carnegie.
