Summary

Rise of Gold explores the captivating history of gold and its profound influence on global economies. From its origins as a rare and coveted metal, gold has shaped monetary systems, trade routes, and societal power structures. Interestingly, gold's unique properties, such as its scarcity and durability, have made it an unparalleled instrument for establishing trust and facilitating trade throughout history. The book examines how gold became a cornerstone of wealth, impacting everything from ancient civilizations to modern financial markets.

The book's narrative begins with gold's geological origins and its early use as ornamentation. It progresses chronologically, exploring the development of coinage, the establishment of the gold standard, and the consequences of abandoning it. Rise of Gold integrates historical analysis with contemporary financial theory, offering a comprehensive understanding of gold's enduring relevance. It moves beyond simplistic views of gold as merely a commodity, examining its fundamental role in shaping economic and political landscapes.

    ABOUT THE ORIGINAL BOOK
“Yellowface” by Rebecca F. Kuang explores the complex world of literary ambition, identity, and cultural appropriation. The story follows June Hayward, a struggling writer who steals the unfinished manuscript of her successful, Asian-American friend Athena Liu after her sudden death. June decides to complete and publish the manuscript as her own, leading to unforeseen success. The novel delves into themes of envy, the ethics of authorship, and the exploitation of marginalized voices in the literary industry. Through June's actions, the book critically examines the blurred lines between inspiration, appropriation, and the desire for fame.

    ABOUT THE ORIGINAL BOOK
In "Under the Banner of Heaven" by Jon Krakauer, the narrative explores the disturbing intersection of faith and violence through the story of the Lafferty brothers. The book delves into the history of Mormonism, particularly its fundamentalist offshoots, to understand the brothers' descent into religious extremism. It examines how a strict adherence to religious texts, combined with personal revelations, can lead to brutal acts. The narrative parallels the Lafferty's actions with historical events such as the Mountain Meadows Massacre, illustrating a recurring pattern of violence justified by religious belief. The book poses questions about the nature of faith, literalism, and the fine line between religious conviction and delusion.

    The ADHD Consultation Hour ADHD...

The first edition of the 'small ADHD consultation', published in 2014, was originally created to provide my patients with a quick overview of the broad field of ADHD symptoms in adults as summarised as possible. It was important to me to integrate accompanying disorders and therapeutic options such as medication and coaching strategies. It is not uncommon for the underlying ADHD symptoms to be masked by disorders that develop later (such as obsessive thinking, anxiety, panic attacks and addictions). Only abnormalities in childhood, such as dreaminess or motor restlessness with impulsiveness, allow conclusions to be drawn. Patients and friends were kind enough to embellish this book with their contributions, sketches, pictures and poems. The significantly expanded 3rd edition of the 'Little ADHD Consultation' is due to the increased needs and demands of my patients and the new findings concerning ADHD. New topics such as neurofeedback, medication overview, neurobiological aspects and autistic accompanying phenomena as well as legal aspects and cannabis medication have been included. I wish you many A-HA experiences with this expansion.
